Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
:twocents:#1 This is to the girl who always felt it was her business to get into my business and ask dumb questions about how I ended up getting a preceptor: Quit being jealous. I earned it.
# 2 To the same girl, I honestly felt like I was in junior high all over again, the way that you excluded me from everything. I honestly wanted to tell you at pinning what a horrible excuse for a human being you are, but I did not want you to know that your hatefulness got to me.
#3 To the girl that never showed up to class-they should have flunked you. I hope you are never my nurse or any of my family member's nurse and if you are, I will request a new nurse and tell them why:BECAUSE SHE NEVER CAME TO CLASS.
#4 To another girl that I befriended who I work with and who I thought was my friend, your cold shoulder actually hurt me the most because I thought we were friends. When you stopped speaking to me and started avoiding me after I started being precepted, I saw your true colors. Some day you are going to need a good friend, and it won't be me.
#5 To the people above who failed HESI-ha!ha!
#6 Thank God I will not have to see or speak to most of the people in school again. When you passed around the piece of paper so we could put our phone numbers and addresses down to keep in touch-I put a disconnected number and a wrong address. I don't want to ever receive a christmas card from you.
#7 For all the people that thanked God at graduation-maybe you should revisit Sunday school again and learn how to treat others- no jealousy, no making fun of people, no rolling eyes, no lying, no cheating, etc...

Hey now...Im one of those people that never go to class and i still manage an A average so please dont HATE..some of us dont need to be lectured...
-To a group of girls who always hang together-stop acting like you DA shiet, cause you aint better then anybody else in the whole class.Stop being so obvious about your true reasons for applying to nursing school ($$$$$$),stop being catty and talk about other people and be mean to them and then when you go to clinical stop putting on the show playing the nicest person to the patient because the instructor is watching.
-to one of the girls from the evil circle mentioned above dont laugh when the teacher ask questions and I answer and then cheat off my exam....some people saw you cheating off me so I make sure for the final I aint sitting next to you.
-to another girl in the circle you had the audicity to spread the rumor I ask stupid question, while you took the easy math exam seven times,I was laughing my butt off,and I could have had make catty comment but I wanted to show you that I have more class then you.
-to the same girl dont tell your parents that all the people in the class are immature while you start all the gossiping,drama....look in the mirror.
-to the guy who made the comment "How come all the retarded people do so good in the class, and all the smart ones are doing bad...Guess what it turned out you are the retard because you failed Hesi, twice!!!!!!
Hahah.....:)
-to my ex-good friend.I befriended you thinking you are a good soul.I cant begin to describe how much your phony actions hurted me.I will never be your friend again.I will talk to you, smile but I will never ever talk to you after I graduate in May 2009

I am not hating anyone, but I honestly would not someone to take care of me that failed to attend lecture. Nursing school is extremely difficult to get accepted and I feel those students who don't show up are taking the space of another student who would have loved to been there. Honestly, how can you learn anything if you don't go to class? The thought of a nurse not going to class and taking care of me and my family scares me to death. If you got all A's, congratulations! Some people are excellent test takers, however; that does not make them safe and competent.
1. We're all here for the same purpose and we're all human beings - can we please try and work together instead of digging for reasons to talk about others? I'm pretty sure things would go a lot smoother.
2. I'm glad you have so much experience in X-Y-Z, I don't so please stop trying to 'impress' us with your stories and let us get what we can out of the lecture
3. No, you don't have to like me but please don't sit behind me in class and talk about me then try to sit next to me at lunch and study with me.
4. My average is still higher than yours, even though you 'know way more than I do' It's not luck, it's called hard work - try it, might work for you too.
Finally,
Guys, we made it past first semester. Thank you, all in all it's been great and I hope we can grow and learn together some more. We can make one heck of a team :redpinkhe

I can definitely relate on #1 and #3...THis is the number 1 thing I hate about nursing school..Its made up of 98% women who are soo catty and jealous..ITs so sad that MOST women are like this, even so called older mature women..What a sad world we live in!!
"I am not hating anyone, but I honestly would not someone to take care of me that failed to attend lecture"
Going to lecture does not necessarily equate being a good nurse, particularly if anyone else has a teacher like mine who basically reads word-for-word off a power point (of which we all have copies) for three hours and does not add any extra information at all. We could seriously do that on our own and be just fine!
Even if the teacher is a better lecturer than that, some people simply have a hard time learning in a classroom setting. The information just goes through one ear and out the other. Maybe they retain information better by doing hands-on activities or reading the textbook multiple times or making index cards. There are all kinds of learning styles, don't limit it to just one.
All in all, I think clinicals and labs are the better predictors of whether or not someone will make a good nurse. You can a have all the head-knowledge in the world, with a perfect class attendance record under your belt, but that doesn't mean a darn thing if you don't know how to apply it safely in the real world.
(Before you jump down my neck, I attend all classes. I am going into my last semester and I've only ever skipped once, and that was because I was sick.)

I don't have a problem with people missing class occasionally, but the person who I am referring to without mentioning names never came to class and I mean never and her grades were less than desirable. If your grades are good then you can probaly miss class from time to time, but when your average is hanging on failing most of the time, you should come to class.
