Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

For the love of God and ALL that is holy, why can't you just SHUT UP during lecture?

I thought this was a fluke when I had to tolerate it during a summer nighttime Psych class that was full of High school students. But then we had talkers in my Microbiology class. They talked through lecture, through tests, through labs, through break. And then there was a whole different set of chatters in my A&P class. If all you're going to do is talk the whole time you're here, why don't you save yourself some time and talk in the lounge and don't even bother COMING to class?

Yes, we all realized that your phone is on and ringing. No, it's really not that amusing. So could you please at least reach in your bag and TRY to shut the stupid thing off? Uh yeah, thanks. That's the dumbest ringtone I've ever heard, by the way.

I cannot believe how many comments I have seen that are the exact words I would love to say to some of the students in my class. lol. But what is most important and what I would like to say is: thank you to my buds that have helped my through tests, clinicals, stress, and labs. I study hard but I would not be here without you. All of you will be awesome nurses soon. The relationships and friends I have met far outweigh the slackers. I feel blessed for having these people in my life :)

Would you kindly refrain from being a knowitall and let the profressor to whom I addressed the question answer it?

I especially love it when the student WHO FAILED that same semester you are in....that likes to jump in and answer your question.

That's when you give them a strange look and say, "Yeah...like I'm taking advice from you."

i'm taking micro this summer. i hope i can get an a. :)

good luck !! in some ways it was easy to study: it is very interesting !!!!!

  1. ok, you partied all last night and are hung over. don't expect sympathy from me. especially since last week i was up all night with a puking child and came to school with no complaints because "it's not my fault you have kids"....i knew that going into it so i don't try to use that one.
  2. since you did'nt study, don't try to cheat off me on the test i studied all week on.

  3. cheaters...............ughhhh....what comes around goes around.

  4. behave in clinicals, you are representing all of us.
  5. i dont care that your uncles neighbors grandma had cancer and they treated her with chemo - duh....!!! im tired of hearing all of your life stories, we've all had a life filled with medical "stories".:uhoh3:
  6. good instructors are the ones that are not defensive, dont be-little you, and teach!!!
  7. all of us are in this together, lets be friends. we spend more time together than our own family and it makes life impossible when you dont want to "all get along!"

For the love of God and ALL that is holy, why can't you just SHUT UP during lecture?

I did say this in one class...some people were just chatting away in the back of the class...I politely stopped the professor during her lecture and told them to be quiet so the rest of us could hear the lecture.

I love this thread...

1) Please don't talk while the instructor is talking. Just because you already know everything does not mean I do!

2) Who cares about what you did last night. Lab time is for learning skills not sharing your personal life play by play.:nono:

3) Stop asking me what I made on my test. I don't care what you made and you should not care what I made.

4) If you text more than you study (while we are in our study group) how can you not understand why everyone else is passing but you...:banghead:

Thank you so much for starting this thread:yeah: I actually feel better

1. GROW UP! this is not high school

2. Don't try to make everyone feel sorry for you b/c you are poor; we all knew coming into school it would be expensive and if we were all wealthy we wouldn't be in school. you were given an opportunity that many people would love to have. you need to realize we are all struggling here

3. When the instructors say do something DO IT! there is always a reason, and will more than likely be to your benefit later.

4. how do you remember every question on the test?

5. I don't care if you got a bad grade on a test...I have 2 kids and a husband and I am doing very well. You still live with your mom....if you were serious about school it would be your top priority.

6. Just b/c you have a recorder to listen to lecture doesn't mean everyone does so just shut up!

7. And for the love of God...If you have freakin pink eye/stomach virus/flu/(insert sickness here) please seclude yourself from the rest of us who need to remain healthy to take care of a family/ourselves. I am not saying you have to miss class just sit far away from me b/c I would be courteous to you if I were sick.

I'm not your mother. I'm not going to hold your hand through the whole course.

No I don't want to study with you just because you sat down at this table. You don't know anything.

And I don't want to hear about your personal saga. Do I know you?

To my classmates that have to repeat either mental health of complex health alterations:

1. It's not the teacher's fault. Sorry, but it's not

2. If your tutor passed last semester, it's not the teacher's fault that you didn't.

3. If you studied for 8 hours a day for the last week straight and still barely passed, it's NOT THE TEACHER'S FAULT!

You can't complain that the tests are different than what last semester's students are describing, and then accuse another classmate of cheating b/c her best friend who is a semester ahead of us wrote down all the answers.

While it's frustrating that we had a large percentage of our class that failed one of these two classes, and a few that failed clinical, I'm so sick and tired of hearing excuses and reasons why they failed. The clinical failure whining especially annoys me. If your not doing the five rights when you pass meds--you shouldn't be passed!!! If you've missed three days of clinical when we only have 16 days at this facility you can't complain about getting a warning...and then you show up late and forget assessments? YOU SHOULD FAIL!!!

Okay, vent over!

Can people please stop hating on over achievers...I'm not saying that I'm the big over achiever, but people in my class have rude things to say about what people do on their own time, and how they get their work done early!

If that person wants to be productive and get their work done early, why do YOU care?

Just because its in the book and the teacher says something different because that's what's used in the clinical setting, don't get on the instructor because its not in the book, BuT it WILL BE ON THE TEST AS THE INSRUCTOR SAYS(hiny hint) Besides you're a STUDENT and have not been a nurse for years.

Yeah, what she said! The over achiever thing especially. Since I started working, I had to utilize my time more carefully. It was hard work, and I'm over 30, with a family, mortgage, etc--this does not make me an overachiever, it makes me stupid for not knowing what I wanted to do when I grow up 10 years ago! So now I work hard to fit it all in, and if I get my work down well ahead of time, it's not because I'm an eager beaver trying to kiss my instructor's butts, it means I do it when I can because otherwise I won't have time.

If I hear one more time that it's not in the book...:banghead:

I know this is an old thread, but I just found it. AMEN to your post.....I have been belittled and scorned because I get my work done early, not because I like to kiss butt but because I HAVE to!!! I try not to let the "underachievers" bother me, I figure if they are spending energy belittling me than it must really make them look in the mirror and maybe......just maybe....it will force them to work a little harder so they will be a better nurse someday. One can only hope.

Another that makes me angry.....I was invited to tutor. I was told by several fellow classmates "the only reason you get good grades is because you tutor". Hello? did it ever occur to them that the reason i was asked to tutor is BECAUSE i had good grades????????

And the last.........."i'm not sure what I want to do when I graduate, mom and dad wanted me to try nursing" UGHHHHHHH why take up space in such a competitive program!!!
