I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Trump attacks Haley for absence of her husband, who is deployed in Africa with S.C. National Guard.
As usual he has tremendous amounts of confidence emboldened by his victories. It should make him confident for sure, but instead he's petty, mocking Haley's deployed husband, making up juvenile names like " Ron DeSanctimonious" and makes things up like liberals want to change the name of Pennsylvania.

Trump is mentally ill. He can't help himself. We were warned by responsible psychiatrists with a duty to warn way back in 2016. Now we are watching as the shared delusions and symptoms of his illness poison conservative politics and thinking. That delusional thinking has people accepting a wide variety of lies and un-American ideas while encouraging the belief that violence is inevitable and secession is reasonable.
These are dangerous times.
QuoteSpeaking at a rally in Conway, South Carolina, Trump recounted a story he has told before about an unidentified NATO member who confronted him over his threat not to defend members who fail to meet the trans-Atlantic alliance's defense spending targets.
But this time, Trump went further, saying had told the member that he would, in fact, "encourage" Russia to do as it wishes in that case.
"'You didn't pay? You're delinquent?'" Trump recounted saying. "'No I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You gotta pay. You gotta pay your bills.'"
A repeated story that now has an embellishment. In general Trump is a liar and story teller, he creates narratives. Like any good habitual liar, he often waves elements of truth into his lies. In this instance I believe Trump told Putin to do as he pleases, it's completely consistent with everything we observed about Trump's fawning relationship to Putin.
QuoteDuring his 2016 campaign, Trump alarmed Western allies by warning that the United States, under his leadership, might abandon its NATO treaty commitments and only come to the defense of countries that meet the alliance's guidelines by committing 2 percent of their gross domestic products to military spending.
I really don't miss the chaos and uncertainties that were a feature of Trump's presidency. It's crazy to me that so many people have been convinced that we should repeat any of it.
The crazy ranting and fear mongering is very popular in conservative communities.

I think the since the US should provide encouragement and conditions for NATO to reach their 2% spending goal per country (which I believe was supposed to happen in 2024) of which not many of them are going to make.
But threatening the alliance to not defend them and let Russia do what it does is a ridiculous stance. The United States did this to herself. After WWII we made ourselves the protectorate of Western Europe (and parts of Asia). It's too late to undo that and go back to isolationism. This is probably a good thing, given the history of nearly constant war in Europe prior to the end of WWII.

Threats and chaos are what Republicans are voting for when they vote for Trump. A vote for Trump is a vote for Putin's agenda in Europe. Trump presented really weak opposition to Russian aggression all through his failed presidency. He's making it clear that he will still favor Putin over American interests, just like in 2018 in Helsinki.
This man is such an embarrassment.
Quote"I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists. Joe Biden didn't do anything for Taylor, and never will,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Sunday. "There's no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money.”
Trump thinks that Taylor Swift owes him loyalty? Because she made money?
Maybe Trump can't remember that Swift endorsed his opponent in 2020.

Former president Whiny Little Baby also took a swipe at Swift's boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce.
This is the same guy who congratulated the Chiefs in 2020, and the state of Kansas. Donald J. Stablegenius doesn't seem to know that the Kansas City Chiefs play in Missouri.

QuoteMontage of 33 clips of the stupidest, most vile, insane, weirdest, addled dementia-ridden, psychotic statements made by Trump over the past two weeks.
What if Joe Biden had tweeted this
Forgetful much???? Taylor Swift supported Joe Biden in 2020.

Yikes. The fellow is not well.
At a S.C. rally on Saturday, Trump said he had once told a world leader he would not protect a nation behind on its payments to NATO, wouldn't protect them if attacked and would "encourage" the aggressors to "do whatever the hell they want".
Sure hope that World Leader speaks up to confirm this latest Trump story.

Trump says he would 'encourage' Russia to attack Nato allies who do not pay their bills
NATO leader warns Trump's remarks on Russia put allies at risk
Hope more S.C residents hear Trumps campaign comments + Nikki Haley's response
Quote"Do we want NATO to pay more? Of course we do. But the last thing we're going to do is side with a thug. Keep in mind, Putin kills his opponents,” Haley said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "It is a mistake for Trump to side with Putin over our allies.”
Liz Cheney Tears Into Donald Trump's NATO Comments
The failure of Republican leadership to push back Trumps stances + who wants to be commander in chief again is alarming.
