I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL

I suppose one can argue that it's reasonable to change the venue to a much smaller indoor space for this reason. Just like one could argue that the change was made out of concern for the wellbeing of the thousands of spectators who wanted to be part of the historic inauguration. I also don't think this is important other than its just another look at Trump's decision-making, his priorities, and motivations.
There are likely to be lots of things to talk about in the coming years.
I think I am suspicious because there are several times in the past when Trump has demonstrated no concern for his followers. I am thinking of people left to wait in 100 degree heat because he was hours late and buses that took rally attendees in, but left them to walk miles in the dark back to their cars. Now suddenly he cares about them, and dogs and horses. I think someone told him what happened to William Henry Harrison and he got spooked.

For sure. I'm wondering how dramatic the ICE raids and deportations will be. Farmers here are concerned for the jobs Americans won't do but DeSantis is ready to help.

Trump expects many immigrants to self deport. Those here on temporary basis may decide to leave their places of employment and find another safe harbor.

Yes. Less boring than before at first. Now it's the same thing over and over. I wonder what prevents them from learning this type of commentary didn't work to not get Trump eleceted? Those people live there and are used to it and can make that choice to go to a football game. Still canceling an event in subfreezing weather when there's an alternative seems reasonable. The spectators got some notice. Meh...there's enough to criticize him for but this isn't it for me.

There still would have been a few football stadiums worth of people if the inauguration was outside. For this, and other reasons you said, It was a dumb comparison.
Trump asked congress to ban TikTok during his first term because he said it was a national security threat. Republicans follow through. Then Trump says that he will save TikTok as his second term starts. Was it because he thinks TikTok helped him out in the election or because the TikTok executive made some secret promises to Trump at Mara Lago?

Trump boasted that he personally knew both Zelenskyy and Putin and that they liked him better than they liked Biden. Trump bragged that he could end that war before he was sworn in if he was just reelected. He said that it would take one day to end that violence. His Secretary of State nominee contradicted that notion and now they are talking about maybe a 100 days goal for peace in Ukraine.
Maybe Trump only really has a concept of foreign policy relative to Ukraine. That fits the pattern.
