The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

She also said that she wouldn't have done anything different than the last 4 yrs and was involved in the decisions of the last 4 yrs.

Th8s was her opportunity to explain and she blew it.

The last 4 years have seen some pretty positive results with falling inflation, good employment and wage numbers, etc.  We have discussed the typical benchmarks previously.

I think you watch think and talk about Trump more than MAGA.

Do you think that paying close attention to what Trump says and does might lead one to conclude that Trump is unfit for office?

General Mark Milley watched and listened to Trump very closely and that led to the general describing Trump as a fascist.

Lots of the people who were watching Trump most closely are warning that he shouldn't be reelected.

Yeah. She should have said that.

We learn more and become more wise when we identify our mistakes.  Acknowledging there were some failures and voicing them would have made her appear more responsible and having integrity.

She chose to say nothing. An individual can decide if this personally matters to them or not.

I think it might with many people. And many people will vote for her only because she's the only democrat option. Voters voted for Biden and will again through this proxy.  She's running on Bidens heels not her own. Perhaps that's why she finds it's difficult to acknowledge Biden/Harris administration failures?

It would have been interesting to see a campaign that was her own.

How ironic that you say that people learn and become wiser from admitting mistakes in a thread about Trump.  You imply that Harris could appear to have more integrity and responsibility if she could voice failure.

Trump, famously, accepts no accountability for anything and will tell you that.  He claims to be a Christian but also claims he has never asked God for forgiveness.  Doesn't that mean that he feels he has not sinned or broken any of God's Commandments.  Could that be part of the lack of integrity and character which is so evident in Trump's life? Is that why he doesn't seem to be that wise in his judgements?

Some people are not troubled by a VP who is proud of the work of the administration they worked in and have no desire to trash talk the POTUS.

What a weird comment. Are you under the impression that a black woman couldn't possibly run a presidential campaign so she's just a puppet?  Can you explain that?

Wow. Team Trump is either bad at logistics or they are too cheap to pay for transportation away from the rally, or maybe both.  I think both.  This isn't the first time Team Trump has stranded fans and it's not the first time that their logistics have been found wanting.

I have been in these threads for a few months now. I have never allotted to Harris" gender or ethnicity in reference to her achievments or sucess. You however have a habit of invoking race and gender when ever you feel you can exploit it. Or attempt to taint another's opinion by subtly suggesting racism.

Your preoccupation with race and gender is weird. But standard for a Democrat.

Harris is not the primary electorate.  Biden is. "we the people" did not vote for her. However she was selected irrinically because of her race and gender as democrats never miss a chance to exploit that. Neither do you apparently.  Harris is an insert. Her race and gender are irrelevant other than the precieved usfullness by the democrats.

Harris attempted to run on her own ticket for the 2020 primaries and dropped out. So that's what a Harris looks like without Biden.

It's also weird that democrats haven't realized that this gender/race pandering is old and worn out and may be one of the reasons Trump may wn.

Don't be silly.  You'll vote for Trump even knowing that he's incompetent AND and a criminal who tried to overturn election results.

I have a habit of pointing out the boiler plate tropes that get casually thrown around about a fully competent and capable black woman as a way to support Donald Trump.

Yeah... this casual racism and misogyny is really old and tiresome.  You should learn how to identify and avoid using them in your political discussion.

I'll let you double down, again, because that's what I expect by now.

The only "tropes being casually thrown arround" is by you. No one ever made reference to them except you. You didn't have something to "call out" in the first place. You chose to insert race and gender for reasons ypu only know. I suspect to exploit it.

Harris is capable and competent to run in the election regardless of her immutable characteristics. She is a human candidate, not a black/Indian with female genitals wanting to be the POTUS.

Oh. Now you are blatantly suggesting that I'm using "casual racism" in my political discussions when I have said nothing related to race or gender? However you constantly do.

Double down on what? Exactly?  That I do not consider race or gender a qualifying factor in how I view people and form opinions about? Do you?
