I started a thread here that I meant to put somewhere else, and I erased it. So what to discuss in the coffee lounge?
Have you seen any good movies lately?
Last movie I saw was "The Last Duel". Pretty good.
Anyone seen "Dune"? I see it's available for streaming and might rent it. It's up for an Academy Award for best picture.
I usually don't care about celebrity culture but "Pamela, a Love Story" got such good reviews, I decided to watch it. I like how she doesn't play victim but lets us know how she felt about events she found herself in such as the stolen sex tape put out without her consent and her marriage to Tommy Lee. It was good to see that she has good kids and a good relationship with them.
On a side note, I remember Baywatch. It was a worldwide phenomenon and at one time I think had a billion viewers around the world.
QuoteBaptized as the "most watched TV show in the world," Baywatch had a weekly audience of 1.1 billion people in 148 countries, translated into 44 different languages. There were very few nations around the world unfamiliar with the self-assured David Hasselhoff and the well-endowed Pamela Anderson.

On another side note she's always been advocate for animals. She's hosting a plant based cooking show in Canada. I didn't know she was Canadian.

Netflix movie "All Quiet on the Western Front" is a brutal movie to watch. Nominated for numerous Academy and BAFTA Awards, including Best Picture it's very well done, well acted and clearly shows the brutality of war and the dehumanization of the front line soldier by those higher up.
It's a German language movie but Netflix has put up a version dubbed in British English and they did a good job. This made it easy to enjoy the cinmatic excellence without having to read subtitles (which I usually don't mind doing).
I wanted to see "Bones and All" because it is nominated for a Spirit Award for best feature. Spirit Awards are given to Indie movies (although this is an MGM movie). The lead actress is also nominated for best performance. Mark Rylance also has a nomination for Supporting performance.
Wikipedia describes it as a "romantic horror" film. I usually don't like the horror genre but because of the positive reviews gave it a view. It was good but pretty gruesome.

Tweety said:Saw the Banshees of Inisherin and loved it. Its genre is described as a "black tragicomedy". Its great cast are well deserving of the four acting Academy Award nominations they got. Recently the cast won both best supporting actor prizes at the BAFTA's (British Academy Awards)
I forced myself to finish watching The Banshees of Inisherin in January. Well acted, awards deserved but I'm not into tragiccomedy, lost my interest towards end. Others may like it.

Wel deserving of his Oscar nomination for Best Actor is Brendan Fraiser in "The Whale". It has many layers to it the movie about an obese dying man and his complicated relationship with his daughter, his dead ex, and food.
