Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:

1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?

2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?

3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.

Not much left to add. Says it all.

That was the point of my "flying" post. I was waiting for someone to tell me to just believe in myself and pray because if I did those two things I surely would be able to fly!

Well! your name says flying in it! so were you misrepresenting yourself since you just admitted you can't fly? Just like all those nurse wannabes/students/aides (gasp) who put RN somewhere in their screen name when it is quite obvious from their posts they couldn't possibly have as much eddication as I does.

You better pray hard and DDREEEAAAMMMMMM 'cause I just know if you imagine it hard enough you will fly............... with all those unicorns that are getting imagined back into being.

I always have to hold myself back from replying that I think God is a little more concerned about wars, natural disasters etc to spend time making sure someone passes their exam.
Why hold back? I wouldn't be able to resist...I probably would reply with exactly that. The truth hurts!

This bothers me deeply, too. So, that means if you failed, it was God's will. Not that you were ill-prepared, not that you graduated from a program that didn't prepare you...nope. The Almighty just decided you shouldn't be a nurse. What confuses me is what to think if the person re-takes the test and passes. Did God say, "Oh, what the heck, how much can one more nurse hurt?"

The same goes for when people say, "When God closes one door, he opens another," and when people say the Lord was looking over them when they were spared during a tragedy. Really? God let other decent law-abiding people die, but he spared you?

Don't get me started on people who invoke God for stupid football games (yeah Tebow, I mean you). Newsflash: God doesn't care about football games. He's too busy deciding who should/should not pass NCLEX.

I'm 21 years old, prettier than the rest of you, have 16 kids, am a crack dealer, might have accidentally murdered my neighbor, definitely robbed a bank, am hooked on meth not phonics, must use high doses of Valium to deal with any stress, don't want to work weekends-nights-or holidays, don't believe that wiping butts should be a nurse's duty and have failed NCLEX 14 times but it's my dream to be a nurse. Honey, you shouldn't even need to take NCLEX. You have everything it takes (and then some) to be a nurse. Heck, with that history, we might even let you into the "Crusty Old Bat Club" just based on that background..

As someone who just got accepted to nursing school, I find this hilarious. Then again, I am old and changing careers, so I will be a newly graduated crusty old bat. I have read quite a few of these tongue-in-cheek threads and I think they help me to realize the type of student nurse that I want to be. I use everything as a learning experience. Then again, I am not one to get all butt-hurt over things like this anyway. I just may open a bottle of wine and wait to be called a name too :cheers:

I too am going to graduate as a crusty old bat! I'm so excited! When new people come on after me, they won't realize that I'm practically as new as them because I am an old grey hair!

Ok, then what catergory do we fit into? I'll be later 30's by the time I graduate and start my career in nursing, so I won't fall into the young/hot nurse league. But you are right, I will not have earned my crusty status either.

Actually haven't updated that. It's now 25 years and I have the gray hair(artfully covered up with blonde dye of course)and the attitude to prove it.

All haill to those of us who actually wore a nursing cap!!!!!!

And yes, it's a cap not a HAT!!!!
