Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
Oh yes and I can write a research paper like nobody's business. Why, just the other day I was in the ICU and my patient asked me for a 14 page research paper on the importance of critical thinking and the nursing process in the ICU. Well, by the end of the shift there it was double-spaced and in APA format. Man oh man, was I glad for my BSN training then.
Ah yes, the APA paper. Good thing the patient didn't ask anything about medicine as we nurses can't research medicine. It must be nursing.

You all are very brave risking the wrath of the unseen gods of nursing as you speak of Things Not To Be Joked About. I became so frightened in a previous post I put a disclaimer in it lest I find myself suddenly getting my face stripped off my skullbones like Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) - IMDb. Be careful out there. :)
"Should I be an LPN, RN, MSN, NP, or go to medical school?"I know that people really want to know if they will be cut out for a job or even like it for the long haul. I get this. I researched my choice for over 2 years before taking the plunge, but when I would see these titles I always wanted to respond with "The Magic 8 Ball says Not right now.". Lol
I am so stealing this line.....and I'll use it too.
Holy cow, are you serious?? No cursive?? Coming from an entire family of teachers (as a nurse, I'm the black sheep lol) that is just appalling! I can see my educator ancestors spinning in their graves.... Sheesh! That really bugs me!
I dropped out of the conversation had been so sick the last few days......
Yup. They have dropped cursive writing in my kids school district and they didn't start with vocab until they were in like second grade. They felt "phonetic" spelling foster better language skills:bugeyes:...whatever. My kids thought I was the wicked witch of the west when I blocked spell check when they were little, they are happy that I did that now that year in high school.

Riiiiight... That's like the psychologist parent my mom had who told her that he didn't correct his child's grammar at home because "It might make her feel bad"!! Yeesh!
Ok, now all of you "biter" nurses -- I will need a notarized document detailing why the marks are on my body to show my SO when I get off of my shift with you. I can just imagine THAT conversation

Medicine? What that? I can't write a paper about medicine. I can only right about "nursey" things. My specialities include: why nurses eat (and bite) their young, why being a new grad now is SOOOO much harder than it was before, how the Pearson Vue trick really does work and of course, the almighty care plan :rotfl:.

Ha! They'll never find me as I hunker down in my converted missile silo. Even as I type, I am surrounded by my cloaking shield and ensconced in my cone of silence. Besides, I gave them a phony forwarding address.:redlight:
So on the second day of my orientation I told my preceptor I already knew how to do everything so she gave me a full assignment and I just got so overwhelmed and started crying because she was SO MEAN and told her I just couldn't handle it and then I told her that I never wanted to be some bedside nurse anyway and I REALLY want to be in management by the time I get married in six months and then she got upset with me for some reason!
I feel stupid because I think posts like this are referring to specific posts on the forum and I like to think that I read AN pretty thoroughly but still have no idea what post you're talking about.
