The hamster is loose.

Published

The 2nd grades pet hamster is on the loose. I have had two students stop down to see if I've spotted him. This should be good...

NOOOOOOO!!!
NOOOOOOO!!!

Ahahahahaha!!!

Thank you.

So...this is completely in a different vein (hehehe) than the whole escaped hamster thing. But, I'll share anyways...

We have pets in the OR from time to time. Not the kind anyone wants anywhere near their surgeries...

See also:

1. Sometime during my time in our OR, we (staff) were exterminating and collecting insects of all varieties. Maintenance and by extension the bug people didn't believe there were bugs in the OR. So...we caught them (dead or alive). We labeled their specimen containers with their location (room number/hallway location at time of capture). We also named them. We turned their sorry butts into our leadership team who took them and deposited them on the maintenance peoples' desks... Unsurprisingly, they began to see it our way.

2. One of my coworkers had a pet cockroach in their locker for a while (kept in a specimen container). It was captured, given air holes to allow breathing, small amounts of water and food (grapes, etc). We may or may not have placed bets on how long before the cockroach succumbed to captivity. The stupid thing lived a surprisingly and freakishly long time (almost a month).

3. There's a stairwell almost never used at work (rarely cleaned either). There was a dead cockroach on the stairs between the 1st and 2nd floors. Instead of cleaning it up, folks at work with a sense of humor put a post it note with I surrender” written on it (the cockroach was belly up after all). This thing was there for a long time too…

None of those are nearly as cute as the hamster dilemma... :sarcastic:

FurBabyMom, do we work at the same place? We have cockroaches in the locker room, lady bugs in the OR, and as disgusting as people are in our break room, I'm sure we've got mice in there too.

Maybe?!?!?

Lady bugs? NICE! Least they're good luck right? We get insect potpourri - whatever's around that finds us we kill. If I recall correctly, on one occasion we found a bug (I believe cockroach) that had been sterilized in an implant tray... Sterile cockroach anyone? :sarcastic:

Well, if it was sterilized, at least it couldn't "go forth and multiply"!!!

*bump*

Any news?

My second grade informant told me this morning they know that he is inside a wall, but he won't come out. Now if this is true, or is a story for their benefit, I'm not sure (haven't seen an adult yet today to ask).

So, when my brother was little he had this psychotic, evil hamster. Said hamster would hiss and attack if you tried to go anywhere near him. It also ate through a plastic tube and then chewed through the duct tape and screen used to repair the tube. This diabolical hamster was no where to be found. We looked for months, fearing for our fingers every time we reached under the couch. Fast forward 6 months, my mom is in the basement doing laundry and lets out a shriek. We come running and find her holding the run-away hamster. His cheeks were filled with dog food (we didn't have a dog, nor did any of our immediate neighbors) and noodles. He had a complete change in behavior as well. From that point on, he was the sweetest hamster ever!

Hope your run-away is found or that the teacher at least came up with a good story for the kiddos about where he went!

Is "inside a wall" a metaphor for Hammy's life?

Am waiting with "baited" breath!
