The Florida job market cannot be this bad?!

I am still applying to jobs and to no avail! The 27th will make it 1 whole year to the date that I have graduated as a FNP student and Sept will make it a year since I have been certified. I have been on interviews, contacted recruiters, called all physicians that I know, hooked up with all current ARNPs that I know, and revamped my CV. What gives?! Most jobs have passed me by because I only speak one language although I am working on learning others. Another factor is that I do not have experience and I keep getting the "I do not have time to train" phrase. I can't relocate either because of family dynamics and I am beginning to give up. My other classmates are not doing so well either. The managed to get into PT positions but the pay is horrible. Is this what advanced practice nursing all about? I didn't think it would be a field of roses but this is beginning to be nonsense. I have paper cuts on my hands from the amount of CV's I have mailed out. I'm hopeless.

I truly can relate. I graduated in May 2012 passed certification as CNP. Still having a hard time finding a job. I gave up, I am looking to relocate.

MagouRN, where would you go? I've been thinking that too but that's almost impossible in my case.

Are you able to relocate? I had 3 job offers before I graduated and 4-5 other places interested in me (and 1 near where I lived) because I was able to move anywhere for a job. If you are able to, I could probably help you find one.

Florida pay sucks. If you can go west the pay is much better or maybe the east coast pay is also good.!

If I were willing/able to move, I'd head to one of the 20-some states that do not required collaboration/supervision by physicians. Maybe Nevada since I like the dessert.

Yep, mobility was huge. I got a local job where I graduated, then got a 40% pay bump up north!

Did you try temping in an indian reservation or something? I mean idk, but they have temp gigs for sure there.

May want to look into those. IMO.

(I know you "can't move," but for a month? I mean like just to put something on a resume).

Its bad everywhere. I waited 6 months before getting hired. I moved out of state to get my first job. But, sadly with my first NP job, I lasted only 2.5 months. I quitted because as a new grad there was no supervision and the internist wanted me to see about 32 patients in a 8 hrs shift. Immediately, 3 days after quitting the first job, I got another job which I love and currently working (still out of state) but learning a lot. Never get more than 26 patients in a 10 hr shift.

Even 2.5 months experience counted.

Thanks you all for your replies. I just don't know what to do and relocation is such a hive step as l my family loves here in Florida plus I have a special needs child. Here I am with all this student loan debt and I can't even get a job in the field that helped me accumulate the debt. It sucks you know.

It is not bad *everywhere*! I live in Texas and get WEEKLY postcard recruiting notes and weekly emails about multiple job openings. Mobility might change your outlook.

Reddgirl, I too have been out of school for a year with no job (I live in Florida as well). I had one job offer post boards but the pay and benefits didn't even come close to my current job as an RN so I had to turn the job down. I've all but given up and have been thinking of applying in management as these are the type of jobs that offer a higher pay grade that I feel I deserve especially after all the years I have spent as a nurse! In order to relocate, I too, would have to.uproot my family, and I really don't want to do that right now.

Wow! This is truly devastating! I never thought in a million years that it would be like this. I too will just give up and continue teaching. I'm sad but what can I do.
