The fatting of America.

Everywhere you look, obesity is there. I am not advocating to be a food policeman, but we need to start making a voice in our land. People do not like being overweight. But certain foods are addictive and the public needs to be educated on proper unbiased nutrition. Meat and dairy products and foods that are fried are absolutely in no way beneficial to the human body. The human physiological system is completely adaptable to a total vegetarian diet. But with the refined sugars and fatty foods that poison our body and cloud our minds, addiction sets in deep and becomes 'nearly' impossible to break the bonds.

I am challenging every nurse to take up the baton on this one. If we, health care professionals cannot make the first stand on the nutrition value of America, then the general population have little to no hope.

How about it? Educate, rejuvinate, permeate.

Well, enough, I say! I say, ENOUGH. Put down your cheez-its! Fling that half-gnawed turkey leg to the floor right now! We must rally together to stop this demonic inhalation of extra calories and come together to do something more productive. I hear there's a clothing-optional group "activity" down by the pool- anyone with me?

Oh, and for those of you whose gorging has left you too winded to frolic scantily clad, we're serving cheesecake in the Cascades room.

Love that..hehehe

When I was a child plump children were called "the healthy child of the family". :D

Now that I am an adult, my mom never fails to say when I see her once a year or less......."My haven't you put on weight!"

I answer her........What? You mean I'm not a "healthy" child anymore???? :roll :chuckle

When I think of the word diet........all I can see in that word is the word DIE. So...I just eat "healthy". :lol2:

Not just a US problem! A Member of Parliament in the UK, at our equivalent of a Congressional hearing on obesity, suggested putting a health warning on a Big M*c carton;

"To work off the calories in this needs a nine mile walk!"

They didn't want to go down that road!

I read the about the labelling of warnings in our newspaper - doctors and politicians want fast foods to carry warnings addressing health risks and the like.

Sometimes we, as humans lack the will power when it comes to certain foods - as in I lacked the will power to not dive my hand in the lolly jar and eat a handful of lollies at 9 in the morning - - -

Oh Tweety honey I have SEEN your pics and you is just "cuddlesome":kiss

I have to ask TGibson - In one of your last posts you talk of going up to overweight people in shopping malls and offering to tell them how to loose weight. When you did not post for a while I had to wonder exactly what happened because I do not know about America but if you had tried that here you would have had to take time off to heal up.

Yeah, gwen, I remember that thread........seems like tgibson's sole mission in life is to rescue the world from being infected by us fatties. Lord, I hate to see this get going again......too many bad feelings. I guess I'll bow out now, before I get angry again!

I lost 200lbs!!!!!!! Then my husband came back. Oh well. Back to volleyball at the pool and there better be some cheescake left when I get back you guys.

I have to say I get that craving for McD's once in a while. What upsets me is the upsizing when I DID NOT ORDER IT. Driving out of state once, I handed back the LARGE fry saying I ordered a small, she said 'its the same price' I said 'I dont care, i want the small' she just stared at me without changing it. so as i pulled away and thought 'i will eat all of these if they are in my possession'(hey, who ate my pie?), I stopped (not far from the drive-thru window) and threw out half the fries. ahh, now feel better...

also, when i ask for a CHILD-SIZE drink, they always give me the big one! I dont CARE that its the same price, I need it for little hands... or maybe then again, I only want 'some'...

Exactly Rhon1991 - - - I have order say small fired here - - - only to find I have been given extra fries whether it be medium or large - - - not to mention the extra cheeseburger put in the bag that I never ordered !
