The most expensive, silly or cheap gifts you received from your hospital

Published

I am not sure if there is any other thread similar to this one but I am just curious what is the most expensive, silly and /or least expensive gifts/ freebies you ever received from your hospital??

The most expensive gifts I ever got for my hospital is a bag with the hospital logo on it and the least expensive is those plastic fruits....they were just promoting health and well ness....I just wished they would give us lots of pen!!!

Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

The last hospital I worked at treated its nurses great (hence it is the only magnet hospital in it's region), so they were always having meals catered for the employees, like BBQ, FUddruckers, as well as elaborate holiday meals with chocolate fountains, etc. The best gift I got was actually from the group of neonatologists in our NICU. They gave every nurse, tech, secretary, RT and speech/PT/OT/Dietitian a $100 gift card to a really upscale spa. The worst gift was at my present job. We got a cheap red plastic visor and frisbee with the hospital logo on it. This is at a multi-million dollar nationally renowned hospital in NYC. The last hospital I worked at was a midlevel 450 bed regional hospital.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I just got a $100 watch that is very nice for my 15th year. I've got a $50 gift certificate to a restaurant before. Lots of little stuff like umbrellas, t-shits, lunch packs, on and on and on.

I don't expect much because they provide me with a paycheck, tuition reimbursement, vacation pay (with a cash out option that I've taken the last few years, cashing in 100 hours for full pay) and many other "expensive things" so I'm not going to whine about their cheap gifts.

Specializes in NICU, PACU, Pediatrics.

since I moved to NC I have gotten the first year a red ornament with the hospital logo on it and last year a green one to match it...so nice

at the hospital in OH we always got a shirt of some kind and a turkey and box of candy

Garment bags with the hospital logo given for nurse's week. They looked like body bags!

hahahaha...that was funny!

Bet you felt creeped out using it! lol

The only places I'd expect to even consider something like this would be something like a Shriner's hospital or St. Jude's. Otherwise, you gotta be kidding me...

A Plastic cup with your choice of 2/3 flavors of icecream.

A $50.00 gift card to use at an upscale Jewlry store where nothing is below $75.00 even on sale!!

Oh and old tube of outdated Mary Kay Lipstick!!

The worst was a tree ornament with the hospital logo on it, the best was when we used to get gift cards for turkeys. For my 20th anniversary I got this beautiful bangle bracelet that bent in the middle after I wore it a few times.

A bottle of water......

Most expensive gift 3 years of bullying by an evil boss....

My husband used to get $500 bonus checks for Christmas from his company, while I received $15.00 gift certificates to a local grocery store. On the other hand, his company didn't pay him squat the rest of the year, while I got decent wages and regular raises. Guess you can't have it all, eh?

Specializes in ER OB NICU.

A turkey, hunk of cheese, sweatshirt with deer drawn sleigh and hospital logo, (most went to goodwill) and$100 cash. This was all in one year.IT seems the smaller the hospital, the better, the gifts. Bigger hospital. CARD IN THE MAIL>
