  1. should be as a primary always for safety. if the bag goes dry it will alarm. Like tweety said. I once followed a nurse who ran in an entire bag of Lepirudin which should have lasted 24 hours in less than an hour it is given to people sometimes that have heparin induced thrombocytopenia. It ended up leading to the lady's final demise.
  2. PS: Unless they had a really gross mouth, they id have to say sorry your getting compressions and thats it, should have kept better oral hygeine.:chuckle
  3. the new addition of the hands off addendum is nice. They found that CPR certified people were not starting CPR cause they did not want to do mouth to mouth with out a barrier for communicable disease possiblities even when it is only a small risk. So they figure its better to do chest compressions until a mask arrives ect... At least it gives health care providers the chance to not give breaths if that is their choice. For me id be a huffing and puffing on that poor soul and hope to save their life.
  4. I went back to get my bachelor's many years after being out of school. It so happened to be a time when I never used computers. Things had went from DOS run programs and apple computers to windows and the WWW/ So when I went back to school I had to drop out of many classes cause i could not keep up, and many papers lost to cyberspace...hahahaha....laugh it up let the young one show ya,,,,,,,as many times as it takes ....you can learn it
  5. Not in OB but isn't that part of HELLP syndrome. I would think that would be suspect in this case.
  6. All I have to say is I had to have a prostate exam(if your not familiar its when the doctor says "bend over you are gonna feel a weird sensation at the tip of your *****" when I went through the roof:argue:!!!!!!!!! I was 24 for goodness sakes:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire to get into nursing school including multiple vaccinations and titers ect. And believe you me I DONT BELIEVE IN THAT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I say suck it up butter cup, no offense just the way it is if you want to be a nurse.
  7. natural UNREFINED shea butter from Africa. Check Ebay. Works like nothing I have tried including Eucerin.
  8. Barnes Jewish is a magnet hospital, tertiary care center, work with Washington University Doc's rated amongst the highest in the nation, and Barnes is I believe the 8th top ranked hospital in the USA. The medicine floors stink but the ICU's are better. St. Louis University also has a good ICU.
  9. and frankly it wouldn't surprise me if some weekend nurse on days started wanting off that have their nose up the DON's posterior side and they thought ah here is a way for us to manipulate this new nurse to get what we want. SEEN it happen with all sort of politics in nursing,,,,
  10. How about this is a fairly new nurse with a lot of responsibility. How about ooops she forgot. lets remind her to be more diligent. But a write up over these things in LTC,,,,excuse my frankness,,,,BUT PLEASE. Alot of LTC is the same so I'd look for a new job but do not expect it to be much different.
  11. My wife went through this for 8 years. Doing for everyone, managers, nurses, cna's, administration, admitting, ER, all departments, and had to take a full team of 8-10 patients and had to make all the calls to docotors for 56 beds then put in orders and sign them off. Plus start IV's lazy ass nurses would not even try once or twice to get. List goes on, she made a real nice salary for the free overtime she did and mandatory meetings ect... When she left for a better job after giving a months notice they gave a close friend of my wife's the job for 15K more per year and more benefits. The whole time I told my wife "Keep work -work and keep home -home" meaning dont take your personal life to work or make friendships other than in a professional sense cause it will muck up your world. "DONT TRY TO MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY, ITS NOT YOUR JOB"
  12. the deltoid is more than sufficient. Hope this helped
  13. Hey they missed out having an advance practice nurse who would probably do 3/4 of their work load...lol...Dont get mad get a better job
  14. Most hospital have or will institute more stringent screening for this because medicare added more to their "never do" list which they no longer reimburse for hospital acquired infections. The hospitals will eat the cost for treatment. Now how many hospitals want to pay to treat a patient that acquired MRSA at the hospital when they may have already had it as a carrier or colonized when they were admitted?
  15. Have you ever seen a grand mal seizure? If you have ,,,enough said..lol....I protect them from injury,,,I time the seizure...when they are post ictal...move them safely to a room with low lights check V/S check neuro checks, apply oxygen,,and notify the MD of seizure.
