I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

His debate performances won him a Presidency and the Republican nomination to run again. Trump is confident even when wrong and being fact checked. Even when arrogant and making stuff up. Plus he has much to attack her about. Her policy pivots, the border, inflation. Trump is not stupid.
Huh? I even think he's stupid sometimes LOL. And apparently I'm his greatest cult follower.
It's fun to listen to him speak and then predict how the left will interpret his words. And sometimes I find myself yelling at my device"why would you say that? Like that? Really? Come on Trump!!". I find his boisterous comments like "we had the best......" , "everybody loved it...." tiresome.
I prefer to watch limited campaign rallies and stick to debates and news interviews.

I disagree. He's well trained. By a kkk/nazi sympathizer and a closeted gangster, among others. He's also too clever by half and has learned to use golden escalators. But he can't think his way out of a paper bag and never could. Remember when people thought the Enron crowd were the smartest guys in the room, once upon a time?
Don't let the pricey PR fool you. He's the Peter Princple incarnate.

I would definitely think that Trump shows a lack of intelligence and common sense. What Trump is skilled at is manipulating people using lies and manipulation.

I guess I can agree with this.
Like Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian, he's turned being rich into an empire, a best selling book, a hit TV show for many seasons, and ultimately the President of the US, and apparently his net worth is at least 2-3 billion. This shows some sort of skill set, what I'm not sure of.
Tweety said:Trump isn't that bad in debates that I can remember. His fans loved he interrupted Clinton with "you'd be on jail" or "that's locker room talk".
No, he's not as bad as some here want everyone to believe. His fans love it, but not necessarily those in the middle. And like in the last debate he was better with the mics muted. The muted mic restrains him better than he can himself.
Apparently the Harris campaign thinks so to as now they're trying to get the rules of the debate changed so that the mics are on all the time.

It shows the advantages of generational wealth in a capitalist society which worships billionaires regardless of their character. Trump has failed forward his entire life.

Yes, we are aware that word salad rants filled with lies are perfectly acceptable when they come from Trump... not considered "bad" at all. That crazy and rambling speech pattern that increasingly reflects dwindling self moderation or ability to employ coherent or logical trains of thought might be evidence of cognitive decline and mental illness but neither the media nor Trump's devoted fan base care that he is obviously unfit for office.
The fact that moderates and independents and other voters who are not members of the cult are deciding that Trump/Vance is a weird and unappealing is just going to get more Ahmed more obvious as Trump's mental health continues to decline. His polling popularity is not going to weather this well, as we can already see. While polls are simply not predictive, those trailing poll numbers definitly aggravate a malignant narcissist.

I think "the rules of the debate" are agreed ahead of time. Biden and Trump agreed to a set of rules set by the hosts CNN for that debate.
Now Trump and Harris are agreeing or disagreeing on the rules again because it's a new debate with new people. Obviously Harris thinks the hot mic will disfavor Trump. I also don't think Trump cares but his advisors are advising him to not agree. Just like Biden had his enablers and people covering up for him, seems Trump has his. Neither were good at listening to the advice.
