The dreaded rolling backpack...

Published

I'm starting nursing school in August. I bought the "ultimate nursing bag" which is a great little back except that it only has one strap. I know the future holds several sore neck muscles and shoulders. And most bags that go on your back with two straps aren't big enough to hold everything that we need to. I'm considering the.......

Any thoughts?

Shocks...pegs...lucky.

I seriously almost just spewed pepsi all over my laptop, apnea! Our nursing class had a running joke about Napolean Dynamite. (My lips hurt real baaaaad!)

Hi all! I graduated in May from NS and used a rolling Jansport backpack half the way through. Covered it with political buttons and stuff. Honestly, I could care less whether people made fun of me for it. When I had to sit through 2 or 3 hours of lecture and had a long walk from the student parking lot to the classroom, you can bet I'm not lugging 50lbs of books and laptop on my back.

That rolling backpack saved my back and is still in great condition. I was thinking about selling it on ebay but doubt I could get very much for it. It's electric blue and super cute...pm me if anyone's interested.

Anyways, I agree with a previous poster...anyone who has a problem with the type of backpack I use should take a trip back to the sandbox. It's college, not nursery school for crying out loud! :uhoh3:

I don't like carrying things when I don't have to. So if I'm going to look like a geek, I went all the way and got a Zuca rolling bag. It's got a metal frame I can sit on, and huge wheels that light up as they spin. For what I paid for it, it should last the whole course.

Hi, what model did you get, and do they come with a section for a laptop? I'm looking into getting one. Thanks for the info.

I got the blue "Sport" bag. The frames are the same except for the colors. The bags come with different configurations, even for pets. There is a bag configured for school stuff but they also sell a laptop insert.

Considering after the first quarter- yes my program was set up on 8 quarters, the text books were not even needed. I think I bought 4 of them they whole time and 3 of those were after the classes were over and from fellow classmates to save them the hassle of going to the book buyback. I used nothing besides my pockets for my couple of pens, I carried my spiral notebook and a folder for each class.

I have a rolling backpack and it has saved me. I use it on my heavy days. I got the ebags brand and I love it. It has an orange inside so I can easily find everything. It rolls very smooth. Although those Zuca packs may-be my next purchase. Although I have had my ebags for 2 years and it's as good as new.

I think there's something to be said for strapping the weight of your education on your back. :lol2: I use an Ogio backpack and it has plenty of room for books, supplies, laptop, etc.

What model do you use? Is it a rolling bag?

When I started nursing school a couple of years ago, I had to walk 2 1/2 blocks from the parking lot to our classroom. It didn't take me long to figure out that something was going to be on wheels and it couldn't be me.

I went to Office Depot just to see what they had in the rolling bag line. I spotted the perfect match for me. It has a sturdy frame and was a pretty slate blue. Bought the thing. Shoved all of my books in it before I left the parking lot. Got out at home and proceeded to roll in my brand new friend filled with all the knowlege a nurse could attain up to my house.

My 16 year old daughter came out to meet me and said "Did you ride the short bus home?" I thought she was making fun because the bag rolled. I was wrong. She was making fun because the wheels light up (like mutant lightning bugs - electric red, blue, and yellow) and the bag rolls!!

Nevertheless, I wheeled that dang old bag to and from school until I graduated this past December. It served me well for school and continues to do so. So buy that idiotic rolling bag, you'll be glad you did.

OK, that's it!!! I am not in school, not even thinking about going back to school in any serious way and I WANT A ZUCA ROLLY BACKPACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:heartbeat:yeah:

Those light up wheels are way cool!!!!

The advantage of being an older student, is that you no longer care about "looking cool".

I bought a rollingbackpack and I love that I am able to pack absolutely anything and everything I want in it, and I don't have to worry about how heavy it gets.

That's worth it alone to me.

i sarted off school with a nice,"hip" messenger bag.......exactly one week into NS....i went with the rolling back back....and never looked back!!!!:yeah:

my back would be broke by now....i have to climb 3 flights of stairs with it though......2x aday......hehehe.......but it is nice in the AM and PM on that long haul to and from!!
