The dreaded panty line.......

I have to wear white pants for clinical and although I haven't purchased them yet, I suspect that since they are white you will probably be able to see through them.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to hide the appearance of your underwear underneath?

I once heard that if you wear nude or tan colored bras/underwear under white it blends in with your skin and is hardly noticeable.

I have also thought about wearing support hose too thinking that if they are white or nude it may make them less noticeable and may help with circulation too.

Let me know if you have any tips.

Who cares...we all (I hope) wear underwear. Just don't wear any polka-dots or colored ones! Your shirt will probably cover up your butt anyway. And the thong....umm, yuck. Not attractive.

I worked w/ a CNA who wore a dark colored thong under her white pants. Another nurse commented that it made the CNA look like she had a dark, hairy butt-crack.

Ewwwwwww!

Well, there is a nurse I work with that wears thong underwear and it took me forever to figure it out. I thought perhaps she was wearing NO underwear with her scrubs because her pants were always stuck in her butt crack a little. I was trying to be discreet but when you are constantly studying someone's butt they tend to notice. So you thong wearers might have more to worry about than panty lines...

This chick on Oprah invented panty hose capri length and a boxer brief type they don't have the feet in them and they Show no panty lines! Victoria's secret also has underwear that show no lines. Amazingly, I have always been told to wear black under garments with white clothing. Works for me!

LOL... I think the nude thongs are okay. Printed are unprofessional and would certainly set you up for the spot light at the next Christmas party.

I think we tend to assess, assess and assess.... Hellllllo Nurse, you cracked me up...

No pun intended?

My school makes us wear this half-dress/half-tunic top that goes down to about mid-thigh (over white pants). I could be wearing garter belts and black lace thongs or who knows what else, and no one would see. Thank goodness, because I was beginning to think I needed to go out and buy tons of beige underwear! Most of my stuff is loud with bright prints and patterns. Oh, and I do wear thongs, too.

No thongs allowed?? What, do they go around and check? :chuckle

That was what I was wondering myself....ok students...line up and bend over/drop them..it's Thong Checking Time!!!:roll :rotfl: :rotfl:

Really though, WHO CARES!!! I never gave it much thought. Just wears some undies, thongs, or nothing... That's not why you are there anyway (to worry about panty lines?)

As for looking like I'm not wearing anything underneath (aka, going "commando"), someone would have to be studying my behind and really thinking about my underwear to notice that.
:chuckle

YES, SOMEONE HAS BEEN STUDYING NURSES' BEHINDS- I read an article last week. This happened in a London hospital last summer, where nurses in a cardiac unit were banned from wearing thongs. Evidently, when the pts. would see a nurse wearing thongs under her white uniform, this increased the pts' heart rate by a significant percentage, where it potentiated the risk of cardiac complications.

Who determined this? A cardiologist apparently was observing this and watching the pts. reactions when the thong-bearing nurses walked by....The alarms in the cardiac monitors would go off for no other apparent reason...

Nurses protested the newly imposed dress code and questioned: Does that cardiologist have anything better to do than to study their behinds? They insisted thongs were the most comfortable & practical piece of attire, especially in the hot months.

However, given the effect observed in cardiac patients, the new rule had to be upheld...

Hey, maybe thongs can be used instead of persanthine thallium for stress testing...It's a cheaper method!

The article was published in spanish.

Funny but scary....;)

PS: go with the flesh-colors, or thicker white fabric (ie. 100% cotton Levi Dockers)

I don't get it! Why is it more "revealing" to wear thongs completely covered by scrubs, than grannypanties that you can see thru the scrubs? I can't stand the feeling of elastic around my cheeks, and have had less "irritation" since my "conversion" about 8 years ago. I for one will never go back. Maybe if our bosses worried less about our undergarments, and more about the job we do, and how they could give us the resources needed to provide for our patients ...

As far as making policy based on a doctor's observation of heart monitors????? Does that constitute solid research? Doesn't that mean he was checking out the nurses, too? Next thing they will say you have to come in with greasy hair, no makeup and mismatched outfits. I know - I'm getting on a soapbox - but I find it so amusing that underwear choice has become such a hotbutton. It's a choice that should be personal, not corporate!
