You need to do your own homework. I would suggest starting at your school library, researching some articles, and putting together a good thesis statement as the basis of your paper. Ensure that you utilize the APA format required by your institution of higher learning, and should you get to choose your next topic, "Ethics in Nursing" would be a beneficial topic for you and your patients.

Along with what others said, if this is an assignment to be done in interview format, get out there and interview someone you can verify is a nurse- you never know when the connections you make today can help you find that first nursing job in the future!

False premise.

False premise. I'm confused about the govt recruiting nurses at educational levels.. I don't know what that means. I'm sure many new grads would like hospitals to recruit them, so they could, you know, work.

Just because someone lists there "job role"...how will you verify it? How will you verify their "department"?

This is the most hacked up excuse for completing coursework I have seen on here.

Tell your professor how "accurate your data" is and watch them try to stop laughing.

I'm going to give some positive feedback. I first want to give my opinion regarding the negativity you have been receiving. I am only an LPN and have been for 16 yrs. I also am in school pursing my RN. So a two fold view from the negative responders. First I believe their obstenence is ill-founded. As maybe each has forgotten the demands of caring for a family, working and pursuing a higher education. But the flip side is each may feel that while you are needing this interview completed, the effort that is taken is all that will be produced. Nurses as a whole feel deeper, think harder, seek longer and expect any brothers or sisters to be of like mind. Our career choice is not a paycheck, it is a way of living. Blah blah blah.

Now a piece of constructive criticism. If you are seeking thought provoking suitable answers. It may help if you ask others if they are willing to answer(it's polite). And secondly, if you want qualified answers you should produce proper questions with correct spelling and grammar.

Yes there is a shortage, my opinion is the root cause is the cohort of aging "baby boomers". This is creating a large demand at present but I am concerned that the focus of nursing is being shifted by our media and people as gaining quantity not quality. I also worry that as the next generation passes many nurses will find themselves unemployed once the demand is reduced. So all should consider having a back up and/or specializing. Regarding your questions as a whole. I must first give my opinion of a nurse. It is my brain that continually seeks to learn, adapt and enhance my skills and knowledge. But it is my soul (spirit,heart) that leads me to become better in humanity from humanity. With pure nursing one does not view a statistic, listen to media or feel a solution. We serve ourselves by always serving others. Age does not change who we are. Our advanced nurses will become the leaders of the new. Continue to remain mindful that we don't care for a computer or politic but we care for our own flesh. Every encounter creates meaning and purpose. This is nursing. This is also what the other responses sought to teach you. It is only by actively seeking human responses to your questions, will you gain insight of the practice of living by loving. These answers cannot be typed. Nurses treat and care for each person in the present. It is only by seeking and seeing a nurse in person that you will find the answers. The only way for improvement is in person. The gov, media and industries can continue spinning their facts, stats, tax breaks, and incentives. That's quite an assumption. I can't speak for all, but here's my anecdotal rebuttal. I have a husband who travels for work--sometimes internationally. I have 5 kids, 3 of whom are in school and music/sports; #4 starts preschool in the fall. I work a demanding job--just part time, but way more than most moms with >3 kids work. I finished my BSN this past spring--from a brick and mortar program with in-person classes and a 60 hour public health practicum. We were also required for family health class to find a non-friend/relative family to make home visits with. I think 8 hrs total of visits, plus the behemoth paper detailing the visits.

So it's pretty safe to say I'm well aware of the demands of work, family, and school.

I will give you that I could have said what I said in a kinder way. Instead of "how would I know," I could have said "I honestly don't know. I haven't needed to research that topic" (international nursing shortage.)

But as to the general unwillingness to just answer the questions? 1) the student can't verify our credentials, and thus calls the entire validity of her/his research into question. 2) the student has to cite their sources, right? Once the instructor sees the citations pointing to an online posting, the student will (or should) lose serious points. We do no favors by helping that hsppen. 3) asking questions on a forum --an anonymous one at that--isn't really an interview. If the student was assigned to conduct an interview, they need to conduct an interview. 4) these questions are essay questions. That is asking a ton for busy people to answer. It's much easier for the interview subject to speak answers and let the student type them up in the context of the paper.

Student questions asking for expert advice are well received if student demonstrates their own research. A "This is my understanding. What say you?" kind of approach.
