Texas Women University FALL 2016

Published

Anyone applying to Texas Women University? I recently attended an information session and spoke to Ms.Victoria the nursing coordinator for TWU. What are your stats? What advice to you give when studying for the TEAS? I know you have to apply for TWU first then get accepted. Then you apply to TWU NURSING. But I am somewhat confused on that process. I went to the apply portal and it does not give me the option to apply for FAll of 2016. I may have to wait. Any current TWU students that can give me any advice on the application process. It will be of great help. Thank you!

My GPA was about a 3.43 and my TEAS was an 84% overall. I recommend sitting down with a TWU advisor and asking what you need to do in order to appear competitive. I retook a class from my previous degree and made sure I took the hours needed for the bump, like I said before, since my advisor suggested I do that. Good luck!

I really think the TWU Dallas Campus is just that competitive that you need every bump you can get in order to get in. I definitely plan on sitting with an advisor and all, but other than having a higher TEAS score, I don't really see what else I can do. Getting 32 more hours at TWU isn't realistic and getting a bachelor's degree is what I'm trying to do now. Lol GPA:3.89, TEAS:87%, and still so-outta-luck.

My plan is to apply for the Spring, take the HESI and PSB over the summer, apply for nursing at A&M Commerce and Collin College, and pray that I'm picked up from the TWU waiting list.

All I really do is laugh at this point and leave everything in God's hands. He's brought me this far; he'll show me the path I need to take.

So if u have a bachelors degree u only need 16 credit hours to get the bump?

I verified that this is true! You can use the excel spreadsheet to calculate.

You should also look at UT Tyler's program...I visited and spoke with the nursing professors and advisors, they were wonderful! The school has an excellent facility and great staff. Also, they are not as competitive due to being in a more rural area.

Ok yeah I'll look into it. I'm really trying to find a place that's commutable from my house, but beggars can't be choosers. Definitely worth the investigation then. Thanks!

However with the bachelor's 16 credit TWU preference it's only about 6 points versus the regular one with 32 credits that gets you 20 points.

@Azon with your stats, it looks like you would have gotten into the weekend/evening program.

Baylor has a nursing program as well. I've heard they have good scholarships.

I applied for the Spring semester (TWU Houston)and got alternate listed. I think I was like #11 and it was December, I'm not sure. I remember thinking, man idk if they'll call me. In the end, they called me the day before orientation asking me if I was still interested. I said yes, what I really wanted to say was f^#$ yea! The thing is that TWU has to wait til the end of the semester, where ppl might fail out of the school and see how many ppl actually do fail. I would call and just make sure and ask what number you are on the list and keep calling to see if you've been moved up. I hope those of you who are wait listed get a call! It's a really great program and you will need to study your bums off.

I want to call and ask for my position on the wait list so bad but they told us not to......:/

They did? Which location? I'd email them then...I'd still call (if it were me, not telling u to do so) in the middle of April n then during the second week of May after grades have been posted. I'm not sure how the Fall cohort works though.

Well, when I called the day I got the email, they said they wouldn't know waitlist positions for a while. And then they emailed us saying they'll know more after the 1st...so that next week I guess I'll start worrying hahah. And Dallas. I had a 3.987 and 88 teas and got waitlisted

I'm right there with you! I spoke to my advisor this week and he told me to call back next Wednesday and MAYBE he'll know something by then. I applied for Dallas as well. 3.68 GPA and 85.3 TEAS.

And you also said your advisor said there's only 30 waitlisted for Dallas right? My advisor was Donna Stallings, and apparently she is not advising anymore, so I'm in need of a new one to talk to
