Here is the history...
This is regarding my S/O, a typical MALE~
Tree falls on house, tree needs to be cut into pieces, chainsaw.
Chainsaw... yes, accident, Kotex, duct tape, and superglue.

I'm an excellent seamstress, but I've never tried to sew skin.
I've found that using a curved craft needle within 45 minutes of the injury, while the endorphins are still secreting, works best for me.

We've got our emergency supplies stashed with a bunch of sanitary pads and tampons for precisely this reason. I'm famous for dressing
shop-related minor accidents with electrical tape, dressings, and pads. Nothing pleases me more than wrapping a giant sanitary pad around some macho dude's hand before I wrap with the tape. Knocks em down a peg or two!

I am dumbfounded, shocked, in awe, at my ignorance.....I never thought of or heard of using female sanitary products for wounds, (to say nothing of ear plugs...oh yeah, that doesn't work)! I think the sanitary product industry is missing out on a great advertising campaign.....though I'm not sure exactly how that would be done?
Next time I shop I'm going to compare costs!
PS I'm old, don't need em....luckily my daughter lives with me so we have them around.

Where did you go to get your Wilderness Medicine Trauma training? I am in GA, and I am still looking for a good program.

the Wilderness Medicine Training Center - Wilderness Medicine Training Center Home This group is local to me, and enjoys a good reputation in our local wilderness, search and rescue and EMS communities.

We're do-it-yourself'rs, if it's not something we can fix ourselves then it wasn't meant to be fixed. Cyanoacrylate, aka "superglue" is also sold under the trade name "dermabond" which is a commonly used surgical glue, so using superglue isn't that far off.
Sounds toxic...but I guess! lol

Here toomuchbaloney:
Man gets chainsaw to cut fallen tree.
Man cuts leg instead.
OP slaps a kotex to staunch bleeding (sterilized, absorbant and more on-hand than abdominal pads) Then binds kotex on with duct tape.
And then, before going to the ED to stitch the wound OP:
Superglues his lips to stop the whining.
Get it now?
Oh OP, consider safety leggings as a gift sometime in the future. Look up:
Husqvarna Homeowner Protective Chaps, Model# 531309564
Such leggings are not absolute protection but since they often have ballistic nylon or similar fibers they do a good job minimizing damage.
