TEAS EXAM

Published

Hello Everyone! My name is Kelli and I would like to introduce myself to the allnurses.com community! I am taking my TEAS exam on Jan. 28th and I need all of the advice I can get regarding the TEAS exam. I am taking the exam at Cal State and I need a score of 70 percent. How can I do this? I am worried because it has been about 10 years since I took a standardized exam. I am a straight "A" student with a 4.0 GPA. How have you all passed the TEAS and got into the school of your dreams? I am trying to get a BSN degree. I have been studying the ATI testing manual and I took the practice exam at ATI and scored an 80 percent. What else do you suggest I can do these final few days before the exam? What were your experiences with the TEAS exam? Thank you SOOOO much. This information you can share with me means the world to me.

PS-I am studying for the TEAS by myself. Nobody I know is taking it yet!:nurse:

Aquizzle,

Do you remember what version did you take? Where did you take the test? i checked the teas web, they hv a new V version. The V vesion online has 150 qs compared to the 3.0 version just has 100 qs.

I just purchased McGraw book 2 days ago. thanks for you offer. Which section in this book that i should focus on. Thanks:bow:

Remember to look at the TEAS sticky at https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/teas-study-skills-436739-page5.html for useful posts. Acquizzas post was moved to that thread as it was an excellent resource for all test takers.

Thanks Mimi07! :D

My test was version 4.0. I bougt the 3.0/4.0 Online Assessment. You basically take the same test twice, but knowing the answers to those questions gives you a good knowledge base for the exam.

My test breakdown was:

Reading 40 ?'s / 50 min

Math 45 ?'s / 56 min

Science 30 ?'s / 38 min

English/Language 55 ?'s / 65 min

Um vocab...hmmm...

I was asked to spell anticipate, average, the antonyms of arduous and vigorous, the synonyms of superfluous and impel...I think that was it.

For McGraw, definitely study the science. Read through the other sections. Know the properties for the first 2 columns and the last 2 columns of the periodic table. Understand DNA, food chain and know essential physics equations like F = ma and d = vt. Know about wavelengths and frequency, acceleration, velocity and currents. It's really broad, but a little of these things should get you a long way. You'll get a sense of what else to study from the practice tests.

Thanks alot:loveya:

I will take the test this Sat. I am so nervous and stress out:redbeathe

Kelli, can you ask your friend that what version did he/she take. i really wanna know. Thanks alot. BTW, can you pls share some good info about the exam if you kno:nuke:. I am really nervous :redbeathe

She said to study conversions like Farenheit to Celcius, metric to english, etc. Also to pay attention to the math, she said that was the hardest for her. She scored an 81 percent. But only studied for like 2 weeks before the exam with the ATI test book.

Kelli

Was your exam on the computer? I will check with my friend who just took her exam at a different Cal State and ask her if she could go back and check her work. Thanks for the info!
