TEAS EXAM

Hello Everyone! My name is Kelli and I would like to introduce myself to the allnurses.com community! I am taking my TEAS exam on Jan. 28th and I need all of the advice I can get regarding the TEAS exam. I am taking the exam at Cal State and I need a score of 70 percent. How can I do this? I am worried because it has been about 10 years since I took a standardized exam. I am a straight "A" student with a 4.0 GPA. How have you all passed the TEAS and got into the school of your dreams? I am trying to get a BSN degree. I have been studying the ATI testing manual and I took the practice exam at ATI and scored an 80 percent. What else do you suggest I can do these final few days before the exam? What were your experiences with the TEAS exam? Thank you SOOOO much. This information you can share with me means the world to me.

PS-I am studying for the TEAS by myself. Nobody I know is taking it yet!:nurse:

Hi Kelli :) Welcome to allnurses!

The important thing to do is to take a few deep breaths. You've been studying the book, which is wonderful. Do you feel comfortable with the information?

The test isn't as standardized as I thought it would be. There are some pretty random questions which keep it interesting, and I thought there was plenty of time to work through the test.

If you get stuck on a question, go onto the next one and come back to it later on. That kept the anxiety level down for me.

Get lots of rest the night before and have a great breakfast in the morning. I wish you all the best!

p.s. There is a lot of TEAS-related information put into a sticky HERE.

Thank you so much for the advice. I know that I will do the best that I can when Thursday comes popping through! WHEW! I have been studying a little today, but I am going to spend the rest of the week studying really hard! HOPE it pays off!

If you read all the posts on this site, you WILL be well prepared. One thing that wasn't stressed enough was to take you time. You have WAY more time than you think. Also, a few on here mentioned going back and checking their work if you finish early, well the test I took, you could NOT go back.

Good luck!

Was your exam on the computer? I will check with my friend who just took her exam at a different Cal State and ask her if she could go back and check her work. Thanks for the info!

I took mine at SDSU and we were able to go back on the computer. I think you had to finish one section at a time though, you couldn't go back and check the entire exam. I could be wrong.
