What do you think about Nurses with tattoos?
Do you have tattoos?
Should tattoos be shown during work as a Nurse?
There is no right or wrong answers. Thank you.
About 6 months back, we had this new grad who wore scrubs that were too small for her. Every time she leaned or bent forward, we could see her angel wings tramp stamp. I've kept in touch with her and she works at another facility during the day. I'd like to think that family members have taken a good look at it.
More like bat wings signal for guys...lol
I feel like tattoos are frowned upon by the higher ups at my facility. However, I have never met these folks. The staff that are supposed to discourage tattoos have tattoos themselves.
Personally I have tattoos myself and don't really see what the big deal is. I take care of older people all of the time, and most of them have tattoos as well.
As long as they are in good taste and not offensive I don't see a problem.
I have one on my forehead that says "No Regerts" in that old english scroll. Ah I remember that drunken night...... was it in Bali, or was it Bangkok??
Seriously, I'm a 47 male and I still can't think of anything I want to mark up my body with and spend that much money on.
One of the guys on my crew, is a tattoo artist and owns his own shop. He has nothing below the shirt (short) sleeves.
More than a few that I work with at my PT job in the ED have tats, one younger fella has to wear those "sleeves" to cover his sleeves.
My daughter has more than enough tats. Her mom and I aren't thrilled about it. But she is a college graduate, works full time and pays her bills and lives on her own at 23. So I don't have much to complain about.
I am a nurse in a cardiac ICU. I am also pretty heavily tattooed. I am a well educated, well rounded nurse, and was raised with strong morals and manners. Ironically I am an extremely traditional person. I've always worn long sleeves because I know very well how judgment is passed quite easily, and I love having a professional persona as well as a unique one while I'm not working. The hospital I work with allows tattoos to be visible as long as they are not offensive (mine are in no way offensive also). From time to time when things get intense I may roll up my sleeves, but I won't come in with a short sleeve top, out of respect for my facility as well as my patients and their family.
