  1. New grad, med surg, central Va...21 plus 6 shift diff for nights.
  2. 80 in my adn program, and now still 80 in my bsn program with some classes requiring 80 average on certain groups of assignments. I guess I'll never get below an eighty again :/
  3. Come on up to VA, we have it all. Beaches and mountains all within an hour's drive. Pay and work as a nurse here is great too.
  4. Mostly 12s with some who work 8s, but the ones who work 8s seem to have been there forever.
  5. At my hospital we usually get assigned 5 to 6 patients, which is pretty difficult as a new grad myself. But it's definitely manageable, and makes you really appreciate a night when the census is low and you have 4.
  6. About 8 minutes or so...
  7. You can still pass! I passed my last two semesters of nursing school with a 81.2 and an 80.3 My school required a minimum of 80 to advance in the program. I found that I had to put in a lot of hours in the library reading and taking notes as I read and then turning those notes into note cards. Also, meeting twice a week for study sessions to just discuss topics we didn't understand clearly. Seek out your professors as well, they want to see you succeed! I finished an associate degree with a 3.8 and finished my ADN with a 2.8 Granted an 80 to 86 was a C, 87 to 94 was B and 95 and above was A Just keep at it and dedicate yourself, you will do fine.
  8. I feel like tattoos are frowned upon by the higher ups at my facility. However, I have never met these folks. The staff that are supposed to discourage tattoos have tattoos themselves. Personally I have tattoos myself and don't really see what the big deal is. I take care of older people all of the time, and most of them have tattoos as well. As long as they are in good taste and not offensive I don't see a problem.
