  1. Get a LAWYER immediately -especially RN, JD. This is just a bump. It is not the end. Hang in there.
  2. Get references from few trusted colleagues and resign. DO not risk your license and Nursing reputation.
  3. Nope, that's not what administrators do. Anyway, you will find out soon. It is not easy being a Nurse leader. They do not get a lot of appreciation for what they do by their bosses and by Nurses. Keep us updated as you transition into this new role. Good Luck!
  4. The hospital should have a contract with the bed/mattress vendors for free in-services for the hospital staff -clincal and non-clinical. The onus is on the hospital to ensure 100% compliance with the training.
  5. Any time that there is not a valid order for the restrain, it is illegal to continue the restraint and could be a liability issue. If any harm happens to the patient during that period without an order, the hospital and the responsible RN would be liable for improperly restraining a patient.
  6. If you meet Nurses who claim that they have never made a medication error, they are LYING. Making medication error is horrible but it is a great learning experience.
  7. Legally, if you did not write it, you did not do it. It is your word against your accuser. Originally, there are five rights of medication administration, some institutions have up to ten rights including the right to document. You made a documentation error. Consider this a learning experience. Sign the form.
  8. Before you go in, get your malpractice insurance here.
  9. Good for you to vent. It helps! Some people lack self-esteem so they try to steal it from other people. Sometimes, these self-esteem vampires do not even know that they are doing it. Next time, feel bad for her. She must be lacking self-worth and self-esteem.
  10. Amniotic fluid went all over my uniform. Luckily, it did not go into my face. I took three hours shower in the hospital....Yuck!!
  11. Honey, I know that you are a pediatric nurse, but this is ridiculous!
  12. What do you think about Nurses with tattoos? Do you have tattoos? Should tattoos be shown during work as a Nurse? There is no right or wrong answers. Thank you.
  13. Congratulations! Good job!!!
  14. My hospital has a service recovery program. If a patient complains, somebody from leadership will come to personally apologize and bring a gift such as gift cards, baby layette, etc. Personally, I hate the program. I feel that it is bribery!
