I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.
LNTCCD- I'm not sure about turtle necks..I would think it would be okay. The collar of a regular crew neck shirt would show also. I was acutally thinking about buying a white fitted hoodie to wear under my scrub so I have a Hood...haha!Rossy- is the sale going to be at every scrubs etc?? I'm def. going to stock up on scrubs when it comes around. The "teal" I went by was the Cherokee Real Teal. I just compared the colors of different brands with that, there wasn't really much of a difference between them though. I really like the Dickies teal, very vibrant & cheerful! lol
I am not sure is the sale will be at every scrubs etc... I will call them up on Monday again to ask how does the sale works. I wonder if we'll get the student's 15% off and the sale price?!? I found the greys anatomy teal pants finally, but I really don't think I'll pay 30$ for them

I'm sure you can find something comparable! $30 does seem like a lot for.just the pants...maybe if it was a scrub set lol
I found that the Dickies cargo pants fit really nice and the pants I got we $20. I've never heard of the brand before "inspiration by letap" or something like that. They were the same color as the dickies but were soft like the greys anatomy ones and are make of a polyester type fabric so it seems like you can just wipe stuff off of them.

Have you seen the Cherokee flexibles?!?!?! They are kind of cute, but they seem to be a little bit too flexible... I don't want to look like I'm wearing yoga pants I really want a soft material so I'll search for "inspiration by letap"! Thx for the info :)
lol fortworthgirl- no no, 12 hours of clinicals (split over two days) two days of lecture (about two hours per day) and one day of skills. As for the Elsevier package, I'm not really sure what it is, but I think we order it from.the book store. I'm sure they will.clarify at orientation.
Thank you!!! I decided that I would ditch the idea of a part time job. I guess I was entertaining the idea because I feel soooo guilty not contributing financially while I am in school. My husband says not to worry about it and we will just be extra careful with our money the next couple of years.

I felt the same way. Before I found out I was accepted, I was debating on declining my offer since I knew it would be hard for us, with two kids and all and only one income. He just looked at me and said" you've been wanting this for a long time, don't worry about the money, It doesn't happen everyday to everyone, just do it." and then he goes " when you graduate, looks like I'm.gonna have a sugar momma!! :D"..haha I would think after almost 8 years of dating, his sarcasm would die down some..
Hey all! I've been reading from my phone and it logged me out so I couldn't reply to anything.
Yesterday I finally went to Scrubs Etc in Hurst and I was slightly overwhelmed! LOL There are sooooooo many choices, so I'm kind of thankful we're only going for certain colors for now. My son bee-lined straight for the Dallas Cowboys scrubs and I had to explain they would have to wait. :-) I sort of spun around the white top rack a while feeling fabric and it figures that my favorite was the Grey's Anatomy brand. They were so soft!! And there were so many different brands / fits it was hard to narrow it down. I figure purchasing the GA brand will be an investment, at least for the tops. The ones with a tie back for fit were exactly what I want. I'm not as concerned about the pants so long as they are comfortable and long enough. And to whoever posted the comment about preserving the teal color with vinegar - THANK YOU!! Never would have known that!! :-D
It was also great to look at all the shoes and try some on. Of course I LOVED the Z-Coils but they are $200+, and the Danskos I thought I wanted are really hard on the foot. So who knows. They did have a great selection of solid white shoes.
@Student - can you show me what a "princess" lab coat looks like?? That's my next obstacle, and the ones I would prefer are shorter and snap front. They did have a really nice Sketchers one at Scrubs Etc though.
@txhusker & fortworthgirl - I understand fully about wanting to work. I'm hoping to not have to until next fall, but time will tell. Up until October 2010 I was making more than my husband, and then I got laid off. His income is barely sufficient but almost solely commission so I've had a few near-heart attacks over the last year. That's why I decided to go back to school. I just keep telling him, we've survived one year on one income and we've only got two more years to go. As soon as I finish he's going to finish his bachelors so at least we know how it'll be financially for a while. Of course this also means no more babies for a few years which makes me sad, but it'll all be worth it!! :-)
I'm going to go back and re-read the last 4-5 pages so I can get caught up! I'm very anxious to hear who gets their acceptance letters this week!! :-D

rossy - where Were you ordering from? I like to order online cause they usually have "free shipping or % off coupons" you can find and no tax. Lol. I really do like that scrub top though, dickies makes one like it, but its only $12.95. Ill have to.go back to Scrubs Etc. and finish looking around.
Fortworth- Student is right, Wait till orientation, I know they will give us the vital information we need and hopefully our schedules too! :) You'll have to work around school, not work school around you. And I know we spend time in the classroom clinicals before we get to the hospital. I think we should relax for now, until orientation atleast.
My labcoat, scrub tops & shoes come in this week, so I think I'm done buying stuff until I pay for my Skills Pack then ill start getting books after orientation.
