Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

@fortworthgirl- yes you are correct. from what I was told, skills(once a week) and foundations (lecture) are on the same day. We are all trying to figure out when we will actually get our schedules, but no luck yet lol.

@LN- white v-neck scrub tops, white shoes, teal scrub pants. if we wear a shirt under our scrubs, has to be unadorned and white.

Thank TX. I just wonder....Can we wear turtle neck white shirt under our scrubs or not since it is going to be cold in the hospital and winter come up...

I called Dorothy's scrubs and they told me that the big sale will be the first two weeks of December. I am kind of confused about the color since different brands use different color names. I was looking for teal on the Greys Anatomy, no luck! I was thinking to find the teal color on any other item at the store and try to match it.

LNTCCD- I'm not sure about turtle necks..I would think it would be okay. The collar of a regular crew neck shirt would show also. I was acutally thinking about buying a white fitted hoodie to wear under my scrub so I have a Hood...haha!

Rossy- is the sale going to be at every scrubs etc?? I'm def. going to stock up on scrubs when it comes around. The "teal" I went by was the Cherokee Real Teal. I just compared the colors of different brands with that, there wasn't really much of a difference between them though. I really like the Dickies teal, very vibrant & cheerful! lol

Hi again! Do any of you all understand the Elsevier package that we are supposed to buy? Who do we buy it from??

p.s.....I'm still pinching myself....I have even gone back to my acceptance email to make sure I wasnt dreaming.

Hey I went to Dorthoys Scrubs yesterday and was not impressed, but I was also confused on the teal. I found Life Uniform (the people who will be at orientation) and bought one set of scrubs and it was 15% off since I'm a student. You dont have to wait to get it at orientation to get the discount. Downside they don't have as much of a selection in pants. Also- she told me to wash my teal pants with a bit of white vinegar and fabric softner (to kill smell of vinegar) the first time I wash them in order to keep the color. after that, no biggie. Just thought I'd share.

I go to scrubs etc. off 183 and precinct line. Very large selection.

It's me again. I have been looking through the instructor's CID's. Im trying to get this straight. We have a nursing skills class one time per week for two hours, a foundations theory class for four hours a week plus 12 hours of lab, a foundations clinical for a 12 hours a week. Thats 30 total hours a week lecture/lab/clinical time....do I have that right? Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I am trying to make some future plans regarding working part time.

lol fortworthgirl- no no, 12 hours of clinicals (split over two days) two days of lecture (about two hours per day) and one day of skills. As for the Elsevier package, I'm not really sure what it is, but I think we order it from.the book store. I'm sure they will.clarify at orientation.

I would hold off on wording about the books and other stuff until after orientation. I think I added up about 19 hours a week between clinicals and school. We are still not sure when we are going to get our schedule but when we do we are just going to have to work around it. I have already warned my job and we are going to have a meeting after I get mine. That's pretty much all we can do.

Oh and also I believe we are going to have to go to the hospitals the day before our clinicals to pick out patients and do our prework so that's a little more time each week.

@rossy - cute! I love the empire waist style! I may have to buy some!

I was about to order my uniforms online, but when I saw the total I decided not to, lol. Too much money on shipping! I think I will wait until Dorothy's (scrubs ect) sale.
