  1. Thank you! I am stressing out more than I need I think. I'm in my first busting job and hate it and I just do to want to be miserable in school too .. Thank you!
  2. I took Hollistic Nursing. I think Aug 8th. I am a little worried about the load and trying to maintain the grades for NP school- but I can do anything for 8 months!ECCU who or how can we submit for someone to review? And is there a semester that is not as heavy in writing papers or can I just hunker down and write?Did you use an APA program for your WORD program
  3. Hey y'all, I got accepted into Texas Tech RN- BSN for January 2014 and was wanting to start a thread for us to stay in contact and also, if anyone has any advice on things to anticipate. I will thankfully be out of New Grad Orientation and on my own by then :) Hope to find out what to expect! Orientation- go on campus or online? Is it no more than 9 hours at a time but 15 in a semester? Do they hook you up with preceptors to follow or can you find your own? Thanks Rebecca
  4. Do you guys have any pointers for the panel interview process? I am one coming up and I've always been on the other end of the panel. Thank you in advance
  5. Thank you rncutegirl! I am not sure where I stand with my credits but hopefully I've taken enough that they cover something. When do you start Tech?
  6. csteph64 Congrats and for what semester?
  7. I am not looking forward to taking NCLEX this summer... it scares the bejeebus outta me. Congrats!
  8. I applied for Spring 2014- :/ rncutegirl- why were you not accepted the first time? or do you know? How is the program? is it doable for a new RN grad?
  9. Do you have any pointers for me- I will be graduating in August- and I do not want to wait till January to start a job. Do they hire new grads not during internship?I have 5 years OR experience as a surgical tech? And how do I contact the nurse recruiter? How is the ER? I am doing that rotation now- it's a whole new world! Fun.
  10. Hey I went to Dorthoys Scrubs yesterday and was not impressed, but I was also confused on the teal. I found Life Uniform (the people who will be at orientation) and bought one set of scrubs and it was 15% off since I'm a student. You dont have to wait to get it at orientation to get the discount. Downside they don't have as much of a selection in pants. Also- she told me to wash my teal pants with a bit of white vinegar and fabric softner (to kill smell of vinegar) the first time I wash them in order to keep the color. after that, no biggie. Just thought I'd share.
  11. i got this message today from shardee after i asked her a string of questions: " rebecca: your schedule will be given to you so you will not register during the normal registration period. you will have to wait for the drug screen before you will be cleared to register. the health form has been sent as of this morning. clinical will be assigned as close to your home as possible. the stethoscope is up to you, but you are advised to purchase a good quality stethoscope so it remains functional."
  12. #6) can yall get your TCCD email on your iphone like you can other mail (not going to the browser, but where it is like gmail or whatever you use and you can program it) I've tried to look it up, but I didn't see an easy way.
  13. #5) Does anyone know if the department allows you to bring your laptop for notes during class or ebook if you don't have a kindle/ipad?
  14. I am caught up finally on all the posts. 1) I would like a 7-1 JPS schedule and I also live 820/35 area, so I am afraid they will send me to NHH. I work at a hospital in South FW so driving all over the DFDub is not my idea of fun. I do know that for the first 6 weeks of clinicals we are at school and not our hospital. 2) Bc I work in a hospital, I know it can get cold, so I am getting a lab jacket and magnetic name tags because I am guaranteed to lose the back to the pin. 3) I thought they said we can't register until our checklist is done, and we can't get our drug screen done till January, so I assume that we will have our schedule before then, but we register after we pass drug test and all else is done... again assumption. 4) I work with a nurse who recently graduated from TCC's program. he told me to get him my book list and he will tell me what we don't need that they say to buy. He also said he did buy the previous edition textbooks and it worked for him, just page numbers didn't match.
  15. @Dreamer, thank you so much! You rock.
