Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

I'll pick April 25th as the day they go out.

My guess is that letters will start hitting mailboxes on April 30th.

I have a question, what schools have you all applied to other than TCC, and what is your first choice?

I have applied only to WC, and TCC? My first choice is TCC. I'm still working on pre-reqs in order to be eligible for a direct BSN entry.

Dreamer,

I think that WC will send letters before April 8th. :)

I've applied to both TCC and Weatherford College as well.

I honestly don't have a first choice. Both schools are extremely appealing to me, each for different reasons. WC has smaller classes, an awesome student/teacher ratio that would allow for more personal interaction with each student, and 100% NCLEX pass rate for the past 3 years. That speaks volumes to me!! The only downside is the distance. I am not a commuter, and usually start getting antsy if I've been in the car longer than 30 minutes at a time (road trips are quite interesting... I have to keep myself pretty preoccupied). I'm afraid I would start experiencing "burnout" early on due to the drive alone. But who knows, I could learn to adjust.

TCC is moving their program to the new campus downtown Fort Worth (which is going to be absolutely stunning), has an outstanding reputation within the hospital community as a stellar ADN program, will be putting in place a simulation hospital which I think would be extremely beneficial to us, is closer to home for me and is well known to me as far as structure goes because I've been a TCC student for 3 years now, so I know what to expect and what is expeceted of me. The only downside is that the NCLEX pass rates are not as great as WC, which has me a bit concerned.

So, as you see... I honestly have no idea which school I would choose if I was lucky enough to get accepted into both.

Gosh, I sure hope so!!!

I only applied at TCC. If i don't get in I will apply to both next go around. But TCC is really my preferred school, because I work and will often be going from class to work and work to class. So, work and school need to be fairly close.

I also only applied to TCC, but if I need to apply again I will apply to TCC and El Centro. Weatherford is an hour away from me so I really would prefer stay closer to home. I live right in between El Centro and TCC. But hopefully I won't have to re-apply :)

Only WC for me. Still taking A&P II. Will be applying to both TCC and WC for the spring session if I don't get in this go around.

TCC is the only school I applied to as well. If it doesn't work out this time around, I will apply to both TCC and UTA next time cause I will be done with my BSN classes by then.

yep, commuting is not fun. and my husband has said they are predicting fuel prices to reach around $5.50/gal this summer. I am hoping he got that info from a bad source!

I am applying to TCC, Texas A&M College Station, Blinn College and UTMB... It has cost a ton of money for application, tests, and study guides but hopefully it will pay off. I graduated from Texas A&M last May and if I do not get in I will feel like my life is a waste! I am going to retake classes and apply to probably eight schools next time if I don't get it. I think TCC is my first choice because my boyfriend lives in Dallas and its about $48,000 cheaper than UTMB... So I will be moving from Houston if I get in :)

I'm just like you Sue... I only applied to TCC but if I don't get in I'll reapply to TCC and UTA since I have all my bachelor work done except pharm and path.. I really hope I don't have to reapply though! :/ I have great TEAS scores but only a 3.5 GPA.. So I'm praying for that to be enough.

Pinaculotta- I feel ya on those science classes.. I took some at university of Oklahoma (OU) and man was it difficult!!! Both the class and the way it was presented/setting. Plus, it's required to take zoology there before any other science courses.. I was horrible and what I feel is like a complete waste now!! :( oh well.. Lol

I predict April 29th! (for tcc)

*3.5 science GPA.. Poops sorry
