Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Yes, I made my order around 8pm Wednesday night and it was shipped out yesterday. There must've been some confusion because when I called yesterday to get an estimated delivery date I was told I should get everything today. But I just got a UPS tracking email and the books aren't supposed to arrive until Wednesday. Either way, I still say that's better than waiting until the end of July! I'm sure yours will arrive on Wednesday or Thursday.

I picked up a care plan book, and lab/diagnostic book at half price books. I spent around $20 for both. I seem to gravitate towards Mosbys because I noticed yesterday that all of my reference books are Mosbys. That was not intentional, I just picked the ones I found easy to understand, and had some suggestions from the Nurse Manager at my hospital.

Good idea! I'll check my local HPB this weekend to see what I can find.

I just received a voicemail from someone at the TR campus bookstore. She said the package is ready for pick-up. Did anyone else get that too?

I havent checked my v-mail yet. When I purchased my package they did say they thought it may be in earlier than the publisher said. How exciting.

Quick question, anyone tried on scrub bottoms yet? I'm having a hard time finding some that looks okay. I'm 5'2" and even the petites look a little long. :(

Do you guys think that pockets would be appropriate on the bottoms, like on the legs, kind of like the cargo look?

I have a friend that just graduated from UTA's BSN program in May, and she said she liked having a scrub top without pockets, and scrub pants that had the pockets in the legs. She said she wore a scrub top with pockets once, and every time she sat down her notepad, pen, etc poked her in the stomach/chest. After continously stabbing herself all day, she went out that night and bought new scrub tops and pants.

I honestly think it's all about personal preference. From what I can tell, we pretty much have free reign over everything about our scrubs except for the color.

I was on efollett.com ordering my CID's so they're ready to be picked up the next chance I get to go downtown, and I saw that two of the course codes don't match. On the blue paper for Foundations, it states that Theory is RNSG-1513 and Clinicals is RNSG-1360, however according to our schedules Theory is RNSG-1413 and Clinicals is RNSG-1460. Do you guys think they changed the course code and just didn't think to change these printouts? I'm sure they use the same ones every semester. I just wanted to make sure I was ordering the right CID's.

Interesting. I guess a good way to verify might be to go on webadvisor and check to see if there are any course numbers that match those cid's. If not, those are probably the one.

Sorry for the poor grammar and mispelled words. Writing from phone

I am 5 ft and very petite with curves and I had a hard time finding pants that fit me as well!! BUT I went and got Koi scrub pants that are cargo (the gold form says we can have cargo) and they are AMAZING! They come in petite sizes and I got the small petite, which is a PERFECT fit! :) hope this helps!!

Went to HPB today and got nursing care plans book by gulanick/myers for $10 and the fundamentals of nursing study guide (7th ed not 9th) for only $5 for extra help! They have some good deals there!!!
