Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
I was looking at amazon for that book and right next to the title it said, 'My Nursing Kit' but when I read the reviews people were complaining that it was not included along with the book. I haven't purchased my books yet but I was just extremely worried about purchasing books online this time around and getting burned later with additional costs of having to buy those components separately. Please let me know where you found your book and if it had the component with it. Thank you so much.
Well, it did not include the access code. I was so mad, because I thought it was included. Now to purchase it seperately I will pay $44, directly from pearson. I am going to complain to textbooks.com. They should make it more clear and I should have read more into it. I guess I was just excited to get reading.
my schedule isTheory M/W 10-11:50
Skills Wed 1:30-4:30 (something like that)
Clinicals T/TH 1-7 North Hills
I was at the S. Campus forever today...registered for CPR, paid for CPR, drug screen, nurse kit. took care of financial aid (which i'm on appeal since I already have a AA degree from TCC...still waiting on approval grrr) and I had my 4 year old with me as we trekked from building to building - he was a trooper!
but I've got almost everything done on my list! and feeling less anxious as the list gets shorter.
Good night AN peeps!
I am also doing an appeal.....I changed my major and reached the timeframe limit.....I started my appeal on the 14th of June and now I just have to wait Hopefully I know by the end of this week!

Bummer! but it still saved you money. I heard that it is close to 200 to buy it at the bookstore. I can't wait to get all these books out of the way. So far, this is the hardest part.

That makes me feel better then. At least I saved some money. That was my goal. Does anyone know if the my nursinglab code gives you access to a website or is it a program you load onto a computer? I am hoping it is a website that we can use from any computer vs. a program you have to load onto one computer.
Question Please- I will at some point be a TCC hopeful and just have a general question. Are any of you who got accepted planning on still working full time? Or even part time? I was looking at the application and saw that it asks how many hours are you planning on working? I was worried that if I am still planning on working that it will lower my chances of getting in. Opinions? Thanks :thankya:

I will be working full time, but am lucky to have an employer who supports education and is willing to be flexible. I put 30-40 hours down on my application. They have to know that some people do not have a choice but to work while in school.

Ditto. I do not qualify for Financial Aid and do not want to take out student loans... so I am left with no choice but to work while in school. Is it a desirable situation? Not really. But I will make the best of it for as long as I can. As long as my grades aren't suffering then I'll figure out a way to make it work.
I will be working as needed(PRN) while in school. I got a job offer at another hospital but will not take it since I am not sure how much I will be able to handle (being a mom, wife, nursing school and work)...I am going to work when I can and kinda get a feel for everything the first semester..

Val, keep me posted on how that works out for you and good luck. I asked the (super nice) lady at the financial aid office (not a decision maker) what she thought my chances are and she said she thinks it should be ok since I'm seeking a "specialty degree" She said she would give me an 80% chance. I told her I wouldnt hold her to it but at least I have a bit of hope but at the same time realistic expectations. I have to say, if I don't qualify for aid and/or student loans, I'm pretty much, well...screwed. But that's a road to travel down if I have to [um, hubs will pretty much kill me...he's not 100% sold on my hairbrained idea of quitting my career (mortgage sales) and going back to school, but he's supportive...(mostly ha!)] *sigh*
anyhow, i can't speak to the poster's question regarding what to put on the entrance sheet, but, i honestly have to say i dont think it would matter, but who knows really.
Also, they didnt have the CID's at the S. Campus and I didnt want to drive all the way to TR so I put that on my list for later, but can they be purchased online?

Good explanation Rajah!! I was about to type the same thing!!
I'm excited more and more as time passes! I have everything done on the list except for getting my books, and sewing on my patches! Oh, and paying for the drug screen because I totally forgot to do that when I was doing the nursing kit and CPR class payment.
Don't get freaked out by the CID! Remember that we came this far!! Besides, how cool is it that we actually can have these conversations?!
