Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Val, keep me posted on how that works out for you and good luck. I asked the (super nice) lady at the financial aid office (not a decision maker) what she thought my chances are and she said she thinks it should be ok since I'm seeking a "specialty degree" She said she would give me an 80% chance. I told her I wouldnt hold her to it but at least I have a bit of hope but at the same time realistic expectations. I have to say, if I don't qualify for aid and/or student loans, I'm pretty much, well...screwed. But that's a road to travel down if I have to [um, hubs will pretty much kill me...he's not 100% sold on my hairbrained idea of quitting my career (mortgage sales) and going back to school, but he's supportive...(mostly ha!)] *sigh*

anyhow, i can't speak to the poster's question regarding what to put on the entrance sheet, but, i honestly have to say i dont think it would matter, but who knows really.

Also, they didnt have the CID's at the S. Campus and I didnt want to drive all the way to TR so I put that on my list for later, but can they be purchased online?

I just read over them on cartella. You can print them if you want, make sure you have plenty of ink and paper. I only printed a few pages here and there for now.

When I called to see how the appeal process worked, I asked what the chances would be if I was entering the nursing program, and she also said pretty good. So now I'm just waiting. I hope to find out this week, but hopefully for sure by next week...... It feels like I am constantly waiting for something! lol I will let you know as soon as I find out.....

I submitted an appeal to the financial aid office and the only form of aid they offered me was a loan. I got my response pretty quickly, within a week or so. Are you guys planning on getting any grants or are you ineligible? I was told I'm ineligible simply because I have a prior Bachelor's degree.

I was told that since I don't have a bachelors degree, I should be able to receive a pell grant. I turned my appeal into the SE campus and they told me that this time of year is busy so it can take a little longer.

Did you guys submit a FASFA first for financial aid? Cause according to that I don't qualify because I'm legally attached to my parents until I'm 25 which blows because Im on my own and pay for my school. I've saved up enough so I won't really have to work a lot during school but I probably will because I like to save and travel. We will see lol

as far as the application goes- putting a lot of hours won't hold you back. My friend put 0 while her mom put 40. I think they just want to know but don't hold it against you.

And I agree with you loly... Getting books seems the hardest part for me!!

I did my FASFA first. You may want to check with financial aid about your age. If you filed your own income tax and were not claimed by anyone else, then you should receive aid. I'm 29 and I didn't have a problem this time, but I have applied in the past when I was in my low 20's and since I file my own income tax I didn't need my parents info...... I was considered independent

I'm taking a summer class at the TR campus right now and I still haven't seen the new East building. Can anyone tell me how to get there from the TR campus? I wanted to just take a peak at it :-)

It is East of the current TR campus. if you are getting off the 35 and you head west on belknap towards the campus that u are at now, it will be on the right hand side before the court house. Just do the opposite if you are already at the campus. But you will have to get back on the one way going west. Hopefully I made sense, not great at directions.

It has a sign that says something along these lines, Tarrant County College health professions campus

Thanks Loly!! I will try and find it! I'm terrible with the one way streets! Lol

If you drive down Weatherford street, then turn around and get back on belknap past the court house, you will see it. Its on the right like Loly said. I can't wait till they pull the fencing down and we can walk around and check it out. It looks so cool.

Well that stinks about the financial aid, although it was sort of what I was expecting. Kinda silly that you can't get aid if you have a Bachelor's degree that didn't get you a job...
