I am a decent nurse why all the self doubt and how do i Overcome it?????

Also i have a lot of anxiety about turning in my notice. I really want to be a flex....do you submit a resignation or just ask to become a flex?

Congratulations! It's totally normal to be afraid of the unkown, so just DO IT! Everything will work itself out...

I'm going through the same thing myself. I'll think happy thoughts for the both of us!:monkeydance:

Congratulations.

I would recommend submitting a memo stating you would like to stay on a PRN or per diem status.

Another member posted the same dilemma, and I suggested the following resignation letter for her:

Dear X,

Please accept this letter as resignation of my full time position from (insert name of facility here) effective (insert date you want to turn in the letter here). In accordance with our facility's policy, I intend to fulfill my duties for (insert time period here).

It has been a great privilege to work on your unit, and my learning experience here at (name of facility) has been invaluable. It has been particularly gratifying to contribute to this outstanding health care organization, therefore I would like for you to consider continuing my employment on a PRN basis.

Respectfully,

You

As for your anxiety...of course you have anxiety! Everyone experiences anxiety when embarking on a new path, facing new environments, new people, new procedures, new skill sets. What you are feeling is NORMAL. In fact, I would worry about you if you didn't have a little bit of anxiety.

Instead of focusing on the scary aspect of a new job, focus on how many doors are being opened for you now. Focus on the new things that you will learn, and the new friends that you will make. Wake up each morning and look in the mirror at yourself and say, "I am a BADA$$!" Even if you don't believe it, it is funny, and will remind you not to take yourself too seriously. Don't put YOURSELF under the microscope and expect perfection on Day 1. Be gentle with yourself and focus on your patients. The rest will follow.

Congrats to you!

...What if the new kids don't like me & I have to eat by myself? :jester:

Anxiety is normal, it is helpful in that it will help you to do you best, and to succeed. The new place didn't hire you to watch you fail.

And just write that you are resigning your FT position, but would like to continue on your unit under flex status.

Congrats! Enjoy the New Job! :yeah:

Earlier this year I left a place I had been a CNA at for 6 years and a nurse at for a little less than 6 months to persue employement elsewhere. I went from being a dayshift nurse to being a night shift nurse. I put in my notice but then spoke with my boss and asked her if I could stay on call. She let me and it was the best move I EVER made! I love love love my "new" job! Some months I work 8 days at my old job and sometimes none. It depends on what they have available.
