Published

hi all

has anyone received a response yet from Downstate for the 2011 ABSN Program? Since it starts in June I would have guessed decisions were already made, but havent heard anything yet.

Hi to all,

I would like to say congrats to all that have been accepted into Downstate nursing program. :p

like to say congrats to all the individuals that got into downstate. i haven't received any letter yet. but honestly if u do not get any letter by the end of april 2011. we should all apply to another nursing school. according to downstate "we have sent the acceptance letter ".

Hi All,

Yes, congrats to all who have been accepted!:D I still have not received a reply in the mail, but I contacted the Admissions department and they said they were in the final stages of reviewing all their applications and decisions would be sent in the next couple of weeks because school would be starting soon. They will even ask your name and give you a status on your application. So, keep the hope alive!

I was placed on the alternative list about a month ago but im losing hope. Have any alternatives heard anything?

Hallo everyone!

I got accepted! The letters for all the people who still have not heard from Downstate school went out Monday. Good luck to all!!

for anyone who is placed on alternate list, does your checklist on the downstate website have a link to pay now? Are we supposed to pay a deposit for alternate list?

Well you guys have being going back and forth about Brooklyn and what not. Marinoh I think your honesty is remarkable about Brooklyn, but by saying that Downstate "its located on Clarkson Ave. its implying a negative vibe or feeling about the people or neighborhood that live around there specifically "African Americans" Although you were not totally direct I can sense in your tone some type of bias. Anyways just be careful with your comments. We don't want to start a racial battle in here.

Best of luck to all.

P.s. By the way, don't waste your time digging up on my past posts to reply to my msg... lol

yeah! I had to dig it out, to know your statistics so I know how to respond to your comments. And I guess its the reason the site was created that way. Anyway FYI, I have a full tuition scholarship offer already, so I don't have to worry about paying back any loan. As a matter of fact I have always gone to school with full scholarship, so I have never been a victim of loan repayment.

hi all,

thought i would check in to see if anyone has heard anything about their waitlist status, or if anyone is still waiting to hear from the school in general. i still know nothing....i have tried to talk to multiple people to get SOME clue on #s and my chance of getting off waitlist, but have gotten no where. also, does anyone know a person who got in off waitlist in past years? any insight is appreciated!

Hi. I am also on the alternate list. I emailed the admissions office the other day, to ask how many people from the alternate list are asked to join the class. This is the response.... "Unfortunately, the College of Nursing does not share it's ranking of Alternates. However, please note that we will typically accept two dozen or more applicants as Alternates per given year. "

Keep hope! I am headed down to the information session at Downstate next week. Is anyone else planning on going? Also, is anyone trying to decide between downstate and another program? Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Hey! Wow, thanks for the update. That is many more than I expected! The one time I called where I got a little info, the guy kind of said in the past it was 5-10 people, but it was not that clear. Are you going to an info session for nursing? I am out of town next week otherwise I would go. I'm waiting to hear from NYU - so may go there, or may apply to some schools in Colorado and start in January. What about you?

Hello everyone...i found this website to be helpful and very informative so I decided to join. I got accepted into Downstate accelerated nursing program starting June/2011 as well as NYU program starting in the fall. I realize downstate is incredibly cheaper than NYU. NYU is a few blocks from my house- convenient for sure but downstate will not burn as big of a hole in my pocket.. lol I just wanted to hear some positive remarks about downstate. I believe every school whether its suny, nyu or columbia will have negative remarks bc we have to remember all the programs are fast paced and much of the work has to be done on our own time. Also, anyone else attending downstate june 2011??? It is key to make good friends with your classmates..collaborating=help! and makes the challenging program exciting and enjoyable. Thankss everyone for some feedback. look forward to hearing from you..

Hi I'll be attended Downstate June 2011. Congrats to your acceptances!! Did you decide on downstate already or still undecided?
