  1. I think realistically, the C's will hurt. My impression is that they will "forgive" a few clunkers in a long ago bachelors, but your current pre-reqs, especially the science pre-reqs, should be stellar. Best advice would be to make an appointment with the admissions office and sit down with someone face-to-face and ask. This year they accepted about 40 from 500+ applications, so they can afford to be choosy.
  2. bump for graduate patho online class
  3. thats great, thanks :)
  4. is there a list of required books somewhere?? not that I have any time between now and start date to do any advance prep, but I'd love to get an advance sense of what to expect.
  5. sorry if this is already asked and answered, but do we wear the uniform only for clinicals or even on campus? -
  6. Yeah thats the feedback I got from a non-Downstate absn as well. She said that OB (and all the clinical classes) have more reading but less technical detail than foundation classes like patho, pharma, assessment. and for that matter less detail than anatomy and physiology and microbiology as well. you agree ?
  7. which were the most study-time-intensive classes in each of the 2 summer sessions? patho and pharma?
  8. NNNNNNNNnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooo lol from all indications, that would really be pushing it. from reading posts here, and speaking with some of the admissions people, sounds like we'll all be sleep deprived and shell-shocked for the duration.
  9. take note that at the CUNY/SUNY schools, the tuition is ultra-low vs private schools, and the quality of the education is high (for most schools anyway) -- so the competition for the few available seats is brutal. SUNY Downstate for example had 500+ applicants for 40 or so seats. Laguardia CC usually has 300/400 applicants for 40-50 seats in the RN program. BMCC is even worse. So when the literature says C+ or better average in the pre-reqs, thats technically true, but admission in most is purely based on GPA ranked top to bottom. So a 3.7 or better is more realistic (A- vs the literature's C+).
  10. I dont speak facebook-ese, so that wont be me :) whats the story with getting uniforms and utility equipment packs (steth, light, etc)? we get these at orientation (6/3 i believe)? anyone do online registration yet?
  11. hi wing mj anunic et al - I'm a FB Luddite, but here's a Downstate class of 2011 thread in the meantime: https://allnurses.com/ny-nursing-programs/suny-downstate-absn-558603.html
  12. vpoonia, thanks thats awesome - I'll put "tomall allnurses" in the subject so you know its not spam :) thanks for all the responses - Basically looks like without the feedback, I would have overstudied (as usual)
  13. only a month or so away............. :redbeathe lol here's a good place to share info, etc also, any current or past SUNY Downstate ABSN students, please feel free to offer advice and tips !!
  14. ^ the second part of that sentence is about where I'm at, now I just need to progress to the not worrying part lol. are there any stats on the NCLEX question distribution?? iow, 10% requiring pharm knowledge, 10% requiring lab work statistical knowledge (normal values), 30% procedural, etc
