  1. Does anyone know if there is a gym at the school that we can use?
  2. hey there guys, I received my acceptance letter about 3 weeks after the deadline (Jan 15th). You have 2 weeks to decide by sending them paperwork back to the school confiming you are going. I hope that helps one way or the other! I know the waiting is torture....I applied other places as well.
  3. Good morning, Does anyone know anything about placing out of classes? I am taking a pathophysiology class right now and read somewhere on here that you can place out of the class at Downstate. I am wondering if that is a test or if they just look at your transcript? Anyone know about this?
  4. thanks and same to you!
  5. ChayaN, Thanks for sending some info, however, I am not allowed to reply. I have read several people on this forum speak their minds about Downstate....and not quite the best. That said, I have read that about all the programs in the area. Any tips you want to write here openly? I am sure there are many more people who would love to know as well.....if not, feel free to send me your email address and maybe we can exchange information that way (if you want). Thanks again for introducing yourself!!
  6. Chaya, Do you know how to private message? I would love to pick your brain a bit......not sure how to PM though
  7. Hello, Looking for anyone else who has been accepted to the 1 year program (15 month) at SUNY Downstate. Entering June 3rd 2010 :).
  8. Hey, I should probably start a new thread about this (but not sure how).....I walked my application in on january 13th to Downstate and received an acceptance letter (via postal mail) yesterday (approx 3 weeks later) I was very excited.......I also have a friend who was just accepted today again via postal mail.
  9. I was accepted and am really excited for the year to start!!
  10. To Tanguera: Thank you so much for your sincere reply. I do appreciate it. It seems the more and more I look into Downstate the more and more I hear unbelievable negative comments. To be fair, I do hear (or read I should say) about all of the programs.....that said, I take everything with a grain of salt. However, its the same comment about Downstate that keeps coming up again and again......"admin/prof. are not providing a learning experience." And quite frankly....thats a HUGE problem. I want to learn and of course all my friends who are already nurses all agree the real learning starts when you get your first job......but I dont want to be unprepared for that first job. However, the choices are pretty slim......not that many programs out there (accelerated) in this area.....and moving is not really an option. By chance, what school would you go to if you did it all over again? Best to you! penbare
  11. Hi! Im not sure about Stony Brook requiring you be all done by Nov 1st. Im not, but am still applying. I'll be done in December. Way before their program starts. However, I live in city and going to Stony Brook will be a huge commitment. I will have to get a dorm room. I do not know anything about Malloy or Excelsiro...I'll have to look both of them up. I only want to do an accelerated program b.c I already have 2 BA's and would like to do it as fast as I can. But I would never rule anything out totally. I am taking pre-reqs at City Tech in Brooklyn.....it seems a lot of people are, or at least a lot in my classes. Reading all these posts is starting to get a little scary...... everyone talking poorly about the schools.....and they are ALL mentioned.....and the acceptance rates are slightly daunting!!
  12. Hi there I am wondering who out there is starting the application process for 2010 in NYC (and area)? Suny Stony Brook Summer 2010 Suny Downstate Summer 2010 Columbia Summer 2010 Pace Fall 2010 NYU Fall 2010 Have I missed any?? please note if I have :) Anyone applying and how is your process coming along? Im finishing up my pre-reqs at a CUNY school and studying for the NET (downstate). Trying to stay as organzied as possible....HA! Would love to chat with others in the same boat and possibly anyone in any of these programs now. Hope this finds you well Conversation is open to friendly, helpful and noncompetitives in nature. Thanks!
  13. Really? Are you really that unhappy at Downstate? Im applying for 2010 but just keep hearing so many negatives about this program.....the 1 positive that is repeated is the price.....but is that worth it, if you dont learn anything. If there is anyone reading this who has had a good experience at Downstate....please comment. many thanks.....and good luck
  14. TO: takingtheplunge: Have you found in the past 2 months since this post that you are leaning toward one program more than another? I am in the process now of starting my pre-req and applying for all of the schools next year. NYU in Jan. Columbia in May. Downstate in June. Stony Brook in July and Pace in September.....I think that its? Would love to know your thoughts, or anyone elses for the upcoming round of applying.
  15. Someone mentioned something about Chemistry and only having 3 credits. I noticed that they require 5 credits is that correct? I was planning on quickly taking my Chem pre-req at a cuny school (since my last one was over 10 years ago:( But all of them are only 4 credits! Does this mean I have to take 2 Chem classes for that 1 extra credit??
