hi all

has anyone received a response yet from Downstate for the 2011 ABSN Program? Since it starts in June I would have guessed decisions were already made, but havent heard anything yet.

Hey everyone. I Just received my alternate list letter.... A straight No would almost be better. Now the waiting game. Best of luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear back! Does anyone know how long the alternate list is?

dont say that... cuz i got a straight no... and it doesnt feel good... im like losing hope to everywhere else now... = (

does anyone know how to tell what number you are on the alternative list?

you should not lose hope -- each school uses differnt criteria to rank their applicants. Downstate is very quantitative, with the various GPAs and to some extent TEAS being the predominent factor. Some other schools weigh other factors (personal statement, resume, interviews, volunteer experience, etc) more heavily. You may not make the waiting list at 1 school and be a top candidate at others.

I was wondering the same thing - if anyone knows any more info about the alternate list. I got my letter 2 days ago saying that -- and wish I had a better sense of when I would possibly find out if I was accepted. How likely do you think you are told within a week or 2 of the program starting? Or thoughts on the possibility of hearing sooner rather than later?

i got a wait list letter on monday. i think the # on the list depends on how quickly you send in the $100 but not positive.

I dont think that you have to send in $100. Thats only for people who have been accepted. And i asked the woman in the admissions office about my place on the list and she said they don't rank the people. which makes no sense, maybe she just didn't want to tell me.

I'm on the alternate list too. Just have to wait and see what happens...

BTW- I submitted my application in September b/c I was told, the earlier the better, and I found out I was an alternate this past Saturday.

guess we are all in the same boat. and i guess applying early made NO difference at all. if anyone hears if they get off the wait list, keep me posted, would love to hear how this is working out for people. :) and good luck!

is anyone still waiting to hear from SUNY-Downstate?

I'm still waiting. Submitted application in November.

I called them on Friday and they said that the application is still with the Committee and that their application process in very individual, so there is no telling what the outcome will be even though it's been so long...

likewise..i applied in october and still haven't heard anything.
