hi all
has anyone received a response yet from Downstate for the 2011 ABSN Program? Since it starts in June I would have guessed decisions were already made, but havent heard anything yet.
wow i am definitely confused! i am on waitlist and still waiting to hear, would love to get the news but not feeling so hopeful. whoever posted that they got in off the waitlist last year, did you say you heard on june 1? i have a trip planned for may 30; i was going to go on it but now i am questioning if that is a bad idea because i could hear something? does anyone have any idea how many people are on the waiting list? every time i call they are extremely unhelpful and somewhat rude. i would love to hear updates from you all if you hear anything!
anyone else starting downstate june 1 this year... would love to get to know each other....possibly all go to happy hour or coffee (either or) before june 1st.... its easier to email me at [email protected] look forward to downstate nursing and meeting you all! :)
Hi. I just stumbled upon this thread and was wondering for those who got accepted, how were your grades? I know the competition is pretty nuts for Downstate. I'm applying for next summer, June 2012 and I've got mostly A's, less B's, and 2 C's in my pre-req course list. Do you think the C's will greatly hinder my chances or I'm alright? I have a bachelor's in Medical Illustration and have experience with gross dissection so I hope that might heighten my chances of being accepted. Also any suggestions towards the application process?
Thanks

I think realistically, the C's will hurt. My impression is that they will "forgive" a few clunkers in a long ago bachelors, but your current pre-reqs, especially the science pre-reqs, should be stellar. Best advice would be to make an appointment with the admissions office and sit down with someone face-to-face and ask.
This year they accepted about 40 from 500+ applications, so they can afford to be choosy.

We were able to register up until May 6th, but I think registration will open up again on June 1st, the same day as orientation.
