hi all
has anyone received a response yet from Downstate for the 2011 ABSN Program? Since it starts in June I would have guessed decisions were already made, but havent heard anything yet.
ok guys, enough is enough. i have edited a couple of posts and deleted one as per terms of service, which you all agreed to when you joined the site, and personal attacks. they will not be tolerated. further attacks will result in action
personal attacks
our first priority is to the members that have come here because of the flame-free atmosphere we provide. there is a zero-tolerance policy here against personal attacks. we will not tolerate anyone insulting another individual's opinion nor name calling and will ban repeat offenders.
got my acceptance packet in the mail today!! anyone else hear back yet?
Downstate was my 1st choice based on many factors. When I read your post I almost swallowed my tongue racing to the mailbox. Well, a package from Downstate!
But is it an acceptance or a Dear John letter? As with all previous test results etc, I hold it up to the light, try to to guess the result based on the thickness of the pack (medium sized, not helpful), let the dog sniff it to see if he wags his tail or puts his ears down and runs to the corner (ok ok).
Finally I take a deep breath and inch the page out with one eye closed.......:redbeathe (
aww... congrats you guys!! you guys already got your packets... and i havent heard anything yet... my hope just went down like crazy... i guess they are still sending out stuff? maybe?
my app went in sometime in late november, and i know they considered candidates in batches - so I'm sure acceptance letters will be staggered -
congrats tomall!! so from what i understood, all we have to do right now is mail in the letter of acceptance and 100$ deposit to hold our spot? maybe start working on financial aid if that applies to us? are you planning on living on campus/off campus or commuting?
Yeah thats the main thing, $100 in 2 weeks to hold the spot - then take care of all the other checklist stuff (med/bkgrnd/citz/finaid/etc) . Dont know about living arrangements yet, it would be nice to be right across the street from school; roll out of bed and walk to class :)
Hi,Congrats to those that got their acceptance letters. Those that got accepted, did you go through an interview?
no interview. I think most of the SUNY programs do not have interviews at the undergrad level. most years they each get 400-500 apps for 40-50 seats, and budgets being what they are...

i have a longggg story... so i got my last recommendation on the 14th so I didn't really wanna mail it cuz it will prolly past the deadline... so i decided to hand deliver it in person on the following monday, which is the deadline 17th, and which happened to be MLK day... (and i was dumb enough that i didnt realized until saturday...) so i walked in hoping that they are open... which of course won't happen on a federal holiday... so i dropped it off at the central mailroom into the "inter-office mail box"... hoping that they will receive it on tuesday when they get back! kinda dumb right? i know...
now the TEAS V... so anyone noticed that on the downstate website they told us to go to the pearson VUE to schedule one? so i was just looking at ATI and there was this other one which is held at LICH, its only 50 bucks but it said its only for LICH applicants... okay fine, i went to pearson VUE which costs a 100 bucks... and then my friend called and told me that she talked to downstate and they said the 50 bucks one is fine just add 22 bucks to have the score report sent to downstate... couldve saved some money = \
oh did i mention that i went to the ABSN info session? yea i did but it was a messss!! remember on the website it says we can bring our transcript to have someone look over and evaluate? never happened... we had to go to the admission office and drop off our stuff and leave our contact info... but good thing that they got back to me like a week later
overall from what i heard, the neighborhood might not be that good but downstate is a good school and the programs are not bad. Good luck to all of you who applied! =)
