Hi! I'm starting a thread for those of us who are applying to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated nursing program (ABSN) that begins next year, fall 2022. The cycle just opened today, so a thread is in order.
Good luck everybody! P.S. I'm going to post my stats and TEAS test scores below to get this started and hopefully we can compare notes as things get closer to being in review/interviews begin. ?

good luck! hopefully it goes well. Maybe next Sunday more people will get their status changed and get interviews.

Im currently in the ABSN program. When I had my interview last year, we did it on zoom. It was a group interview. I am a male and was interviewing with two other males. The director of the program interviewed us. She is a very nice lady and gave us a overview of the program and scheduling and things like that. She asked us 3 questions, and we took turns answering(which helps if you're not called on first, because it gives you time to think of your answer). She asked us, “If you were hosting a dinner, would you cook or cater, and who are the three people you are inviting and why?”, “How do you think you’ll handle and prepare for the rigors of an accelerated program?” And there was one more question, I just can’t remember it. Towards the end, she asked if we applied to anything other schools, and which ones were our top choices, and if we got admitted to any of them. The interview lasted about 30-45 minutes. Just be comfortable and be yourself. Good luck!

Hey,
Do you mind sharing your stats? Were all your prereqs complete?
Sure, they're not extraordinary, to be honest, but I was pretty proud of my essays and feel confident about my LoRs. I'm currently retaking two prereqs for a letter grade. I had to take them mandatory P/F the first time, so the passing grades didn't count. But I definitely think it's still possible to get an earlier interview slot without completing all the prereqs. Sending good luck to you all!!
cGPA: 3.4
Prereq GPA: 3.95
Sci GPA: 4.0
TEAS: 100 in math, sci, and English. 94 in reading.
Hey all so I feel like I'm being totally gaslit by downstate admissions?? I had to change my math elective, and the course I am taking mentions statistics but is NOT a statistics course. My academic advisor at the institution where I am taking the math class has confirmed it is not statistics, but downstate is insisting it is. I sent them an algebra course description to see if they would accept that, it doesn't mention statistics anywhere, and they are saying that is ALSO a statistics course! I've sent a lot of emails over the year and I just feel like they are tired of me?? I went to a liberal arts college so I had to do a lot of work to get some pre-reqs accepted. what did other folks have as their math elective??? thank you for listening ? my application just got assigned a faculty screener and I'm nervous about this messing my stuff up.

Hi,
I went through something similar last application cycle. I just kept submitting course descriptions for math until they finally approved of one. I ended up taking a basic algebra class like Math 101. Do not be afraid to send emails for clarification.

My application says forwarded to the program for review. I still have a few prereqs in progress. Has anyone been accepted before all the prereqs were completed?
