SUNY Downstate ABSN 2022-2023

Hi! I'm starting a thread for those of us who are applying to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated nursing program (ABSN) that begins next year, fall 2022. The cycle just opened today, so a thread is in order.

Good luck everybody! P.S. I'm going to post my stats and TEAS test scores below to get this started and hopefully we can compare notes as things get closer to being in review/interviews begin. ?

I got the call for an interview a few days after my status changed to Faculty Screener Assigned.

I was accepted into the program!! So relieved and thrilled. Best of luck to everyone anticipating an interview. I hope to see you all on the other side!

Wooohooo! Got my acceptance this morning! Congrats to everyone accepted so far and good luck to everyone with interviews! I feel like last year's cohort started a facebook group. Shall we do something similar?

You know I’m actually not sure! I wasn’t paying attention to the status change and I actually don’t have any changes to my status on the application so I’m not sure what others are talking about. I wouldn’t worry too much if you haven’t gotten a call yet though! I applied pretty early (early December) and I know they’re doing it by first come first serve

Congratulations!! How soon after the interview did you get your acceptance? And how was it? Hoping I can be in that fb group soon!

I got my acceptance email in less than 24 hours.

BTW. I submitted my application for the program on Jan 30th.

Congratulations!! If you don’t mind me asking, how was the interview?

Thanks!! The interview is very straightforward and chill. The director is very friendly and tries to put you at ease. There are no technical or gotcha type questions designed to trip you up. I would practice working on your "elevator pitch," though. Just be sure you can confidently give a sense of who you are, your story, your values, how you found nursing, and your fit with the field/program itself. No need to memorize anything, but have the core ideas in mind. I know the interviews are typically first come first serve, but I submitted my app on January 30th. I got my acceptance less than 24 hours after. I'm not sure how they're reviewing applications, but it's probably not in chronological order. I hope this was helpful!

Y'all, I got a call for an interview. I was so happy to get the call I think I could cry. Hoping for the best!
