SUNY Downstate ABSN 2022-2023

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I'm starting a thread for those of us who are applying to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated nursing program (ABSN) that begins next year, fall 2022. The cycle just opened today, so a thread is in order.

Good luck everybody! P.S. I'm going to post my stats and TEAS test scores below to get this started and hopefully we can compare notes as things get closer to being in review/interviews begin. ?

I'm a re-applicant who applied in the previous cycle and sadly was not accepted, but I didn't have some of my science courses done, so I am not letting it stop me from trying again. I was accepted to a couple of private programs, but ultimately decided to leave my office job and pursue prerequisite completion full time and now I'm working on getting a phlebotomy license in hopes of improving my application and eventually being admitted to Downstate - let's be honest, the tuition and outcomes for graduates cannot be beat, so I know it can be ultra competitive. Hoping that the second time's the charm!

My stats are:

Overall GPA (from 10 years ago): 3.2

Science GPA: 3.7 (A&P 1: A, A&P 2: A-, Chem: B, Micro: A)

Pre-req GPA: 3.7

TEAS: 89.3 overall, math 100, reading 85.1 and science 85.1.

Crossing my fingers!

Hey! I'm also applying for the fall 2022 cycle ?

Are you also having trouble with putting your prereqs into the application?? I think its broken ?

Also, I'm taking my TEAS exam soon, how did you study for the science section?

Anyone else's recommenders having trouble signing in? My recommender stated that every time he logs into his account to submit the letter, it changes his password and he is unable to log in.

I did not have trouble putting in my prerequisites.

Also, if I didn't go to Brooklyn College, what is the correct answer to this question? The only options are "Yes" or "No". I worry that putting "No" will automatically pull me out of the running.

I had that same question too about the Brooklyn College thing. I have no idea what we're supposed to do tbh, I left it blank for now.

For some reason when I click edit on one of the prereqs it doesn't let me move onto the next and I'm not able to save it. How were you able to do it?

Nevermind I got it! Turns out I just had to zoom out a little to see the update button on the right side lmao

I emailed few science professors for recommendation letters, but none of them respond so far. I don't know what to do. what do you guys suggest? Also if I got one of the recommendation letters from my employer, the second one has to be from a science professor? or any college professor?

My recommender is having trouble also

Does anyone know how I should input my chem prereq if I have two separate grades for the lecture and the lab? I emailed admissions and they still haven't gotten back to me
