Hi! I'm starting a thread for those of us who are applying to SUNY Downstate for the accelerated nursing program (ABSN) that begins next year, fall 2022. The cycle just opened today, so a thread is in order.
Good luck everybody! P.S. I'm going to post my stats and TEAS test scores below to get this started and hopefully we can compare notes as things get closer to being in review/interviews begin. ?

I went through something similar last application cycle. I just kept submitting course descriptions for math until they finally approved of one. I ended up taking a basic algebra class like Math 101. Do not be afraid to send emails for clarification.
Thank you for connecting with us new applicants. I saw you in the 2021-2022 chat and felt like I was following you and all the other applicants on the anxiety ride. Congrats on getting into the program, it's really not an easy feat!

What about your TEAS?

I didn’t do too well on the TEAS either, I received a total score of a 79. My reading section was a 85, math a 87 and science a 71. But I do have 4 years experience as a patient care technician at a hospital, and I've done research with my previous college. I was a biology major as well. I hope this helps, if anyone has any questions, please let me know. And I wish you the best of luck on your application process.

I don't think Downstate has a specific number they look towards in terms of GPA. Your GPA sounds pretty good. I had the same pre req GPA as you when I applied. However, my science GPA was around a 3.2 or 3.3. I don't think that affected my chances. I explained why my grades were the way they were in my personal statement and my interviewer had actually brought up some points from my statement, letting me know that they actually read it. As long as you put your best foot forward, I think you should be fine. Good luck
I got a call for my interview this morning! Mine is next Tuesday. Those of yall who have already completed your interview or are going to, please lemme know what Dr. Mchugh asked and how it went! Im super nervous and would appreciate anything to help me prepare

Unfortunately I don't have a faculty screener yet. Hopefully I will get one... I only have 1 green checkmark on the entire list of submission items and its for a letter of recc. But regarding admissions, they seem rude and unorganized. They definitely gaslight. They try to make it seem as if your recommender can just send a regular letter of recc to the admissions email if there are any problems, but when I emailed them for this cycle, the response I got was something along the lines of "there is nothing wrong with our system...". as if my professor FROM DOWNSTATE is lying... the funny thing is that I've seen in this forum that this happens and it also happened to one of my recommenders last cycle. and even after the professor emailed them, it wasn't until after I submitted my application that I realized they didn't even update the letter to reflect on my account as received and they still swore it wasn't the issue.
I know from a previous recommender that they do not ask for a regular letter of rec and the questions are very specific. she sent me them to clarify and give her more info so she could write a good letter for me. So if my recommender from this cycle could not log on to even see any questions or submit or whatever the case may have been, I really don't know if whatever they wrote is good enough for admissions.
