Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2020. This is my second time applying. I waited till the very last day of the deadline to submit my application last year (I knowww) since I had taken the TEAS and had just gotten the results. However, I've already submitted my application for the upcoming year and hope to get a call for an interview. Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Sidenote: I really like the upgrade they did to the online application. So much more user-friendly.

I am trying to figure out a timeline for getting all of my documentation, background check, and health forms completed and if it is 2 weeks from today, I'm not sure I'll be able to pull it off because I'm going away with my family for a week this upcoming week!
Hello! In my experience, they don't actually super care about getting all the paperwork in within two weeks. I called them about that myself and they kinda admitted that that deadline's only meant to put a fire under your butt to get it done. It shouldn't be the reason that you accept or don't. That being said, if you accept, give them a call and explain your situation, and I'm sure you'll get the same response I did.

Thank you so much! You were right, I called and they let me know that 3 weeks to get everything done would be okay. I just have to email them and let them know an estimated day of completion for everything. I feel a lot better since my Dr. had zero open appointments for physicals in the next two weeks!

I am thinking of applying this upcoming year. I was just wondering if anyone got in with low GPA like 3.0 cumulative and pre-req 3.0 or lower. (My mom lost her job my sophomore year so I was working fulltime while going to school fulltime for 2 years). BUT I have an incredible experience as an emergency room scribe for 2 years (both pediatric and adult I was basically an intern more than a scribe), will have amazing letters of recs, worked on advocating for Nurse Practitioners Modernization Act and I also have high ATI scores. I was just wondering how flexible they are about undergrad grades?
Hi @deevee7
I got in and my undergrad GPA wasn't so stellar. However, my prereq GPA was high. My advice would be to retake the prereqs you did badly in and get your physical science GPA up. They LOVE to see upward trends. If you fix those classes, and possibly take some more in the meantime (whatever you can do to get that GPA up,) and explain your situation in your personal statement, you would have a SIGNIFICANTLY greater chance of getting accepted.
Good luck! ?
I haven't received an interview request =(
Does anyone know how many spots are still left? Is there still hope for me?
Pre-req GPA: 3.69
Science GPA: 3.67
Cumulative GPA: 3.35 (don't know how they calculated this, my own calculation says its a 3.41)
TEAS
- Reading: 97.9%
- Math: 100%
- Science: 76.6% : took this before I finished APII bc they said the last date to take it was Nov 30, and then they extended the deadline to Jan 30 after I already took the TEAS >=(
- CUMULATIVE: 86% (96th percentile)
Sidenote: I just finished my APII class today (Feb 24) and my Dev Psych will finish in the next week. I wonder if having 2 outstanding pre-reqs disqualified me? Or was it my low cum GPA (I graduated undergrad 13 years ago with a degree in liberal arts, no sciences)
