Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2020. This is my second time applying. I waited till the very last day of the deadline to submit my application last year (I knowww) since I had taken the TEAS and had just gotten the results. However, I've already submitted my application for the upcoming year and hope to get a call for an interview. Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Sidenote: I really like the upgrade they did to the online application. So much more user-friendly.

HI Moreteaplease,
I also just submitted my application. This is my first time applying and the only program I am applying to- so I am quite nervous. Thank you for starting a thread on here-- a great way to share information about the application process.

Hi! Thanks for making this thread. I also applied - my app was complete and submitted on Sept 15. I hope we hear about interviews soon. I also applied to Stony Brook and a couple private schools, but I’d be super happy to go to Downstate!

Hi naomiws,
Thanks I am nervous as well. May I ask why SUNY is the only program you're applying to? Most people apply to more than one just in case. Is it because you're 100% committed to only going there?

Hi goldnr,
I would be happy to go to Downstate as well. It has the best price point out of all my other choices. I would think that we'd begin to hear about interviews right after the November deadline but I could be wrong.

Hello!
I just submitted my application a few days ago. Downstate is my first choice school, and I am very much hoping to be admitted. My academic stats are generally pretty good (Pre-Req GPA of 3.92 so far, prior B.A. with 3.61 GPA, TEAS scores of 100% Math, 97.9% reading, 91.5% science), so I feel good about that end of things.
Things I am worried about:
1.) I still have four pre-reqs to complete: Microbio and Dev. Psych this semester, then Intros to Soc. and Anth. next semester.
2.) While I have volunteer experience that is somewhat relevant, it is not in the career field (or in healthcare, for that matter). I had wanted to try to get some of that experience, but between working full-time, going to school part-time, and attending to my other volunteer commitments, I am pretty maxed out. I used my personal statement to explain how it has all brought me to nursing and prepared me for SUNY, but I am not sure if 3000 characters is going to replace volunteer or observational experience in the field.
Is anyone else in a similar boat? If there are any current SUNY Downstate students on this board, were any of you in a similar spot with your application?

Hi everyone,
I plan to apply for SUNY Downstate 2020, 2021 ) I just got my Teas score ( math: 94%, Reading 74%, overall 82.7%). My GPA is solid 4 and i still need 9 credits prerequisites (non science)
Do you think it is good to apply with these numbers on my application? Do they accept conditionally and let us take the prerequisites before class registration?
I am so nervous and need your help. Tnx

Hello. I am trying to submit the application but my application fee page has yet to be updated even though I have paid for the fee and got the email receipt for it. Does it take some time (I submitted the fee 2 days ago). It also tells me I have an existing payment on my account when I go into the checkout page again. Is it just me or anyone else having this problem?

Hello Nilo!
If your GPA is a 4.0, then that’s great! They do say, however, that they want a minimum TEAS reading score of 80%. If you have experience in the medical field, perhaps that will accommodate for it, but I would try to take the TEAS again if I were you.

Hi there eluo,
I definitely had the “already made a payment” problem. I ignored that and paid anyway. I think it’s bringing us into the payment system via Downstate’s collective login, so it’s registering payments for all types of applications that all applicants are submitting, not just your own.
That being said, my application has a green checkmark next to the payment section now, so if yours doesn’t I would try calling admissions. They’re pretty responsive.

Hi, thank you for your response. I talk to the admission office and they told me to retake the teas. But yes, they said because of your grades u will be accepted.

Hello,
Thanks for the reply and help. My payment definitely went through the first time as my credit card did list the transaction. I went ahead and tried a different card and this time it went smoothly, so I will probably to call them for a refund. I have a new problem now...when I submit my application, I get hit with the error: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'process_id', table '@result'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated.
Googled it and this is some sort of coding error of the application on their database but since I don't see anyone else having this problem, not sure what it is now.
