Summer

So with summer here, I can't figure out if I should be looking at my NCLEX books, if I should be re-reading to understand concepts better.

what do you all do to keep your brain on nursing with a long break in between classes?

I enjoyed my break. After reading hundreds of pages a week and studying nonstop, I always welcomed the breaks and never once thought about nursing! I needed it by the time it came and I knew I'd lose my sanity if I studied NONSTOP for 2 years.

They say both are important- concepts and nclex questions, but enjoy sometime off also.

I always enjoyed my breaks also. But if you want to do something, strengthen your content knowledge. This way, you can just do questions after graduation and pass NCLEX.

Summer! You get a long break? Lucky dog!!! I go to school 3 days a week and do a 12hr clinical another. I'd enjoy the freedom.

I wish I could just go straight through to get it over and done with! I have till August till I start again for the fall. I just started getting into a good rhythm and then it's time to end!

I think I will do content review to really beef up my understanding. Probably the best idea instead of just doing NCLEX questions.

We are year round. But if I had a summer off I'd take it. Maybe spend 1 day a week reviewing.

I did not open a single notebook or textbook during my summer break. This is your opportunity to take some time off- enjoy it.

If you do want to review, I strongly recommend the Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX book, breaks town topics into bullet points and has a CD with more content based review questions than you know what to do with. Go over your fluids/electrolytes, acid base, and pharm. They're usually not popular subjects, but you've got to know them.

I would review NCLEX guides with focus on the areas you have already learned about, and browse through an.com.

Take some time and enjoy your summer too. You don't want to start back and say "I spent my summer making flashcards ;("

I would get the Saunders NCLEX book and read a chapter a day and do the questions at the end of each chapter. That's what I'm doing. :)
