Summer 2012 - Check in

Published

OK, since enrollment for Summer 2012 is close to starting, I figured I'd get the ball rolling for those of us who are taking courses this summer.

What courses are you taking? Is this your first time taking the class? When will you apply for nursing school?

Good luck to you all and let's keep each other updated on our summer classes in this thread :D

My last final will be July 30th. Yay! Can't wait. Orientation will be the 2nd. I have one essay to finish and my huge research paper :| I have three huge history chapters to read and answer the questions, and studying for my 2nd chemistry exam. Not too bad. I'm just so over it at this point.

I had my Microbiology final on July 16th and just found out I got an A in the class! So happy!!! I hope you're all doing well in your classes, too!

I have my Phlebotomy practical final tonight. I was selected to be the first person to draw blood. Not thrilled that I'm going first, but hey...at least I get it done fast, right? :D I'm just so glad that all I have left are Anatomy & Psychology finals next week. I'm SOOOOOO done!!!! Need a break!!!

Finished my English comp II class & my chemistry class yesterday. Tuesday was my computer class. All I have left is my history final on Monday. And I have two weeks and a few days until nursing school starts!

Update: 7/27/2012

I have an 'A' in my Women's Issues online class at Ivy Tech last time I checked, and I'm wavering between a C and a B in the online Psyc 101 class. I was having quite a time submitting the correct paper in Psych yesterday (evidently). I met with the financial aid office yesterday with my appeal paperwork, as I had been put on a financial aid warning. The lady told me to hold onto the paperwork, as this moment in time I have not officially been listed as 'terminated.' She said to call her around August 6 to see my status.

Meanwhile, I have not done well on the Psych exams; they cover 3 chapters, and I don't know how to study for them. If I pass the class with a C, I will be happy. I don't plan on retaking it should I continue my college endeavors.

I am currently in the process of job hunting, as I am in medical debt, as well as college and misc. debt, and my children need orthodontics, with my daughter, the oldest child, being first in line. If I don't find employment before the fall semester starts and the college lets me have financial aid, I have English Composition and Algebra II lined up for the fall.

OMW!! You guys won't believe what happened to me today. So today was suppose to be a good day where I could finally relax since it was my last final-- history. Which I ended up with an A in the Class. Anyways, after lunch I get a voicemail from my whack-job chemistry teacher who says she LOST ALL OF OUR FINALS!! and we have to come back in tonight and retake it. :| we took it last Thursday. This lady really did me in today. I was beyond livid. We have put up with so much unprofessionalism from her this semester that it is beyond ridiculous. She is not very "put together" and is really not cut out to be a professor. I spent the summer learning chemistry by myself because she never taught. I have never met an instructor like her.. And I always have nice things to say about my instructors, but not her. Sheesh lady. I have had a very stressful day because of this. She better not lose my make up final or I'll seriously pitch a fit. I had to drive all the way back to town like an hour away to do this! My husband had to take off early-- he was already off some this morning for my history final (Same place). I am so so so glad this summer semester is over.

How many years did it take you guys to finish prerequisites?

well, this summer i'm taking 4 classes. English, Psychology, Sociology, and philosophy. This is my first year of college, I won't be able to apply to nursing program until next year for fall of 2013 because I still need A&P, microbiology...

I feel like everything is taking forever.

I should be coming out with 2 A's in A&P 1 and 2 :). Grades are due by professors at noon today. Grades aren't available until tomorrow, but we can see them after they submit them. :heartbeat

I was afraid that would happen with mine since she's never taught lecture before (she's taught lab before, just not lecture). I know why people did not continue with the A&P from last semester. I have had to teach myself A&P during A&P2. Her tests were always hit and miss. She would tell students that questions were wrong, when the students had gotten them wrong (but were actually right). Then when students had taken quizzes and she could not find them she said they hadn't taken to them. These were A students who had been there everyday.

Specializes in OR.

Just finished my final final (hehehe) today, and finished with A's. WOO HOO! Now I'm going to spend a week sleeping in before my kids start school again. Then, it's back to the grind for me with fall semester starting on the 20th.
