Summer 2017 Chat

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!

What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?

I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.

I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.

Hope everyone is well!

xo,

Jen

I am taking Intermediate math on campus this summer. I withdrew from the class because I was failing it during the spring semester. Then i will be taking my science classes during the fall and spring semesters. I am also taking art appreciation.

Good luck on your first day! And oh wow, I love Minecraft too :wacky: Havent had much time for gaming though since college

Yes very busy summer. Studying for NCLEX PN and taking prerequisites for RN program all while trying to be a wife and mom.

It all worth it we can do it!

Sounds like everyone has a busy summer! I'm taking Statistics, Microbiology and a PE class required by my college to graduate. This fall I'm taking A & P 1, A & P 2 (1 is term A, 2 is term B), Psychology, Humanities 1, and a first aid/wellness class required by my college for pre-nursing students. Next spring I'm set to take Chem 2, Spanish 1, and Psych 2 then I'll be DONE with pre-reqs!!

Since people have been talking about the TEAS...I thought I'd ask how did y'all decide when to take them? I'm hoping to get into Nursing school Fall 2018 or possibly get my CNA license and work a few months and get in Spring 2019. How far ahead before applying did y'all take it? And should I try to study while I'm doing classes or wait until I'm down with all the pre-reqs? (Which would make me have to wait until Spring 2019). Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!

I didn't take the TEAS until I was done with A&P I and II/Chem/Micro.

Ya'll. My school calendar is ridiculous. Maybe this 3 classes in 5 weeks thing was a bad, bad idea. I have an 1,100 page paper due Thursday, 3 quizzes due Friday and a test on Sunday. For just one class.

Only 5 weeks though. Right?

I took the TEAS last Friday and passed (not really a good score but it's higher than the required ADN teas score). Anyway, I was #24 on alternate list, went down to #13 after I took the TEAS last Friday. And today I called and was told that I'm #2 and their list is almost locked down... hoping to still be able to get in!

I took the TEAS midway through the Fall semester, while taking A&P 1. I wasn't applying to the program until April. To be honest, I wanted to see how the test was, the procedure for it, so I would be better prepared the next time. But I got 87% and decided not to retake. I would really recommend not taking it until you've done A&P 2 though. Many of my science questions were from A&P 2.

Fingers crossed!!

That's a great score! You kicked my butt!

Chemistry is going so fast! But so far not too bad. It's mostly organic, which I find much easier. Our first test is Monday.

On Friday our hospital is partnering up with Petsmart and we get to go "socialize puppies". I mean, is there a better way to spend your Friday?

Well, I think I have mostly all the muscles I need to know memorized -sigh- I guess I'll resume studying for the PAX now -- taking it on Saturday. I'm not really sure what to expect, except I'm being tested on verbal, math, and science. :wacky: I hope everyone else is doing well in their classes so far!

PAX completed. I thought I did absolutely horrible (considering they bombarded me with all Physics and Chemistry questions in the Science section) but I ended up scoring a 138 composite. I'm not sure how decent of a score that is, but I only need 105 to get into my Nursing program -- so I'm content :)
