Hola ! My boss has asked that I choose a goal/focus for this year. I would like some ideas as I am clueless right now ! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

No student deaths or injuries causing permanent damage. An excellent goal. Anything else is unreasonable.

I have to do this too and find it totally irritating. I have to set professional goals for the year, and then specific, measurable goals for the quarter. No advice really, except that I feel your pain. For professional goals I said attending conferences/continuing education, begin the process for National certification. For quarterly goals I am discussing staff trainings at one of their professional development days, and a training for me specific to one of our students with medical needs. It's frustrating because Old Dude has it right- seriously my goals are to keep the kids safe and alive, not get sued, and maintain my sanity.

I have to do this for my three year professional development plan. Myy first response was "Keeping alive from 7-5". The curriculum coordinator was totally baffled, then laughed! Most of my conference and workshops are school nurse related, and we have to be able to connect them in our online portal (My Learning Plan) to our goals, so one of my goals is to maintain current and unencumbered licensure in my state. The other is to meet with all kids that have an EpiPen and have them assess their skills at self administration. I then work on them becoming totally able to self administer their Epi pen if needed.

How are Principals going to measure YOUR goals? They are medical professionals?
So dumb.
I like OD's goals, myself.
Personal goals:
How about, I will renew my CPR.
I will attend Narcan training.
I will get as close to 100% compliance for immunizations.
yadda yadda yadda.

i agree, Old dude, but then if you did have something unexpected happen that was out of your control (like a sudden unexpected cardiac death of a child d/t undiagnosed condition) one would not attain that goal and it would perhaps cause levels of professional stress that are both extraordinary and unavoidable.
Might I suggest a focus on some areas where you see frustration in your position or in things that you may be able to control. If You were able to note that there were a lot of students out for coughs and colds, perhaps instituting preventative measures ( posting hand washing reminder signs, reminder notices about not sending children in when ill, getting the board to pony up for hand sanitizer stations, requesting from the PTA that they help with an ititiative to put hand sanitizer in classrooms... etc) may work.

These are good goals.

Getting teacher to understand that a wiggly primary tooth is not a reason to see the nurse; it is especially not a reason to interrupt said nurse's lunch! That is my goal for the year- I think I'll write that down and post it on my bulletin board(with the head lice)

Getting 100% of paperwork from students and families.
Wait...you said an attainable goal, right?
