Stupid Things RN's Have Done!!!

I know you all have heard some interesting things about what some of your co-Workers have Done...

Leave out Med. Errors... or Nurses Caught Taken their Patient Drugs... Think of the One's that are totally Outrageous...

For Example, and to get things started I have a Few...

-A nurse on my floor ran a Feeding Tube Supplement Thru an IV...

-Another Nurse.. Couldn't Find a Vein So instead of asking someone Else... They used his Dialysis Fistula for the IV... Then Ran a Bag of Heparin thru It..

It's Sad that some nurses Mess up on stuff like this... Hopefully they learn from their Mistakes...

(This Thread is Somewhat Similar to https://allnurses.com/forums/f8/scari...light=scariest)...

But the Thread is Several Years out dated... In fact The Thread was created When I graduated From High School in 2004... So Lets Here some New Stuff...

There was recently a thread about this subject. However, something rubs me the wrong way about the title of your thread. I know that people can do "stupid" things, but a lot of times errors result from the conditions in which we work. Are you currently working as a nurse? I don't want to assume that you are not because you are listed as being 20 years old, but I am just wondering...

Why is it so important to you to discuss the "stupid" things other nurses have done?

I am fully aware that my next question/comment is totally off the subject at hand, but here it is anyhow. Did you really earn a BSN at age 20? Your user profile indicates that you are a 20 year old RN who is also educated at the BSN level.

If you truly are a 20 year old BSN, then I congratulate you on your special achievements. However, I smell a troll.....

Perhaps this was the thread? Stupid Nurse Tricks

I don't understand why people are flaming, There was an extremely popular thread some months ago, I think it was titled "Things that co-workers have done that have shocked you"... I think the scariest part was the nurse who crushed up PO meds and put it in an IV line?

Perhaps this was the thread? Stupid Nurse Tricks

No.. it wasn't that one, I'm still searching though!

I read in a previous post that the OP will graduate in May 2007. So they can't be a staff nurse as the profile says unless they are LPN or something. Who knows.

Hey, dont worry about it. I thought it was a good idea for a thread. I dont understand why some are so quick to flame others. And I dont search all the threads on here before posting one, that would take forever and take the fun out of being on here.

Okay . . . story from the other night - and not stupid - following ABC's - but there was enough staff that SOMEONE should have thought to cover the C-Spine. Took a patient up to ICU after bad MVC. Massive head lac and multiple C-spine fractures. As staff is moving her to the ICU bed the patient begins to vomit. They immediately rolled her on her side to keep her from aspirating - but no one grabbed her head / neck to stabilize!?!? C collars are great but they don't do that much when you fling the patient over that quickly. She went for her halo the next day.
