I am so sorry to hear your news! I ahve failed twice, and will bet taking again next month sometime. I did the kaplan online live review at the end of dec. It wasnt what i thought it would be but i do think the decision tree can help with some of the questions it doesn't help with all of them. I have decided that i need more content review so that is what i am focusing on. don't give up we can do it! best of luck!

You would know better but have you considered that you know the material?
I have a friend, she failed the NCLEX 2 times, studied and studied and knew the material but still failed. She passed the exam the third time and what she did different was this. She bought 2 books solely dedicated to test taking strategies - Saunders Strategies for Success for the NCLEX and Fa Davis Test Taking Strategies for the NCLEX. She read these books from front to back. One of them, I forget which, had this sheet in it to help figure out why your getting certain questions wrong so she used this. It helped her realize there was a pattern to what she was doing wrong - like she was getting certain types of questions wrong so then she went back to the Test Taking book and read the chapter on priority questions and interventions or whatever was her problem area. Then she would go back to reviewing, making sure to use the assessment sheet to figure out her weak areas and reviewing them as needed. The last piece of advice I would give you is that at this point, WHEN YOU GET A QUESTION WRONG, ONLY READ THE RATIONALE FOR THE RIGHT ANSWER. I know many people say to read all of them, but a great professor once told me that when you are preparing for a cummulative exam and have a lot of information to remember, reading all the rationales is not a good idea. She said doing so, your brain can sometimes remember the wrong info, sometimes remembers the rationale for the wrong answer instead of the right one. IF YOU THINK THIS MIGHT BE HAPPENING TO YOU, TRY IT OUT!!
Good Luck!

Hi Murphy, I know how it feels to fail since I failed my first test but here's what I did.
https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/2nd-time-passer-433756.html
I self reviewed for both my tests. I know it's hard to get focused especially when you are pressured of passing the test, but don't lose hope. As for Pharma, what I did was before I sleep at night, I scanned the pharma section of my Davis book which has a separate chapter for pharma and read all the medicines there. I did that for 2 weeks I guess. Plus the labs, normal values. I did not try to memorize but rather noted the hallmark of a certain drugs, like for example, If you are about to give Metropolol, you should check the BP and Heart Rate of a patient. Some meds often have GI side effects, some nausea and vomiting. Good luck! :)

I am studying for the 4th time also. It is very depressing to fail. I study every day 100-200 question with rationales only. I also work 12hr shifts as a LPN. I am completely exhausted, but I want this bad. Keep studying and don't give up. I am curently studying Pharmacology and Nursing made insanley easy. I am able to remember and retain the informaiotn I read. It teaches a totally different way of learning the infomation. I hope this help. Tiny3
